First Birthday Ideas

My son turns 1 year old in May 2020 and I want to start generating ideas on how to celebrate him. What did you do when your child(ren) turned 1? Anything unique? Where did you celebrate? At home? Venue? Any and all ideas or testimonies welcome 🥳 Thanks mamas!

My daughter turns 1 in June 2020. We’ve decided not to waste money on a party that she won’t remember so instead we’ve rented a house big enough to house immediate family & we’re going to celebrate there. We’ll decorate, buy a cake, have balloons & presents big without having to fork out for a venue, food for loads of people etc xx

Love this idea! I might just do the same.

We had them at our house, just close family and friends (ones we talk to weekly), had food & snacks, themed decorations. Only spent about 100 total. Walmart and dollar tree has a lot of cute decorations

Yassss Dollar Tree!

We did have a party. But for his actual birthday we took him to pick out his own toy, and also took him to Eat N Park for his first kids meal 🥳

That’s so cute! What a lovely way to celebrate her and her artistry. ❤️

For my son 1st birthday in 2019 I did the Spider-Man theme he was crazy about that dude I had a live character come to his party we did a bubble machine played karaoke off of kids songs cotton candy Spider-Man taught the kids tricks took pictures danced . I did a buffet table with tacos and nachos and I did a sweet buffet table as well . I made his dipped pretzels his candy apples his colored popcorn his punch .

The aquarium is free on your babies birthday .

Nice, thanks! Good to know.

My son turns 1 in April and we're having it at the little pod

Cute! Just looked it up because I’m in Georgia. What a good idea, especially for active little boys. 😄

Following bc my son also turns 1 in May! ❤️

We did a photoshoot for him but just moved to Colorado so don’t know a lot of people so we took him to the children’s museum and he loved it!

I love the photoshoot idea!

When he’s older we will do big parties but for now just simple stuff!

My little girl is one next month and we have hired a hall and soft play. Little party for her with friends and family 💗

Hi Stacey! What kind of soft play? I’m curious for when my little one turns 1 too!

Hi. Just a Peter Rabbit themed little bouncy castle, ball pit and soft play x

My boys are 1 in May and we're planning on doing a cake smash photoshoot!! And then a party for family and friends in our new home 😁

Happy upcoming first birthday to your baby! My daughter turned 1 in November. We live in Florida so I rented a pavilion at the park, bought a food few items and did a general Wild One theme with balloons and decorations all included in a set from Amazon. There was supposed to be a matching cake and smash cake but there was an issue with the order. I enjoyed the park because everyone had room to roam. We had a few balls, frisbees, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk all from the Dollar Tree. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves but I loved seeing my daughter moving around freely outdoors. Bonus, because of the fresh air and running around she slept great that night! Good luck with the birthday party and remember to enjoy the moment!

Love this! My son always seems to enjoy himself when we go to the park. He’s a May baby so weather permitting, this could be really ideal. Thanks for sharing!

My son will be 1 on may 2nd 2020 good to hear ideas.

For my oldest we just had a few close friends and family there. We did cupcakes and a small cake (one of those already made ones at Sam’s club) we gave her a cupcake to smash. The theme was under the sea mermaids. Will probably do the same thing for our youngest who will also turn 1 in May (maybe different theme)

We did a fiesta theme for my daughter. We had it at a park she turned one in August

For my daughter's first birthday in 2018 we celebrated at home with family. We didn't really do much of a theme but we got a Moana cake and smash cake since that's what my daughter liked at the time. If your little one has a certain character or animal he likes you could use that as your theme.

My son will be 1 in May 2020 as well. I’ve decided to have a Sesame Street themed party and it’s between my mothers house or the lake, depending on weather. What day was you little guy born?

May 21st ☺️

The lake sounds nice.

My little man will be having his first birthday at a music festival! 🤣

Oh wow!

I'm doing a cowboy theme! Sooo cute. Look up ideas on pinterest. Started getting items at dollar tree.

We’re in Asbury Park so we had it in the AP bowling alley. Different ages of kids but they got their own lane. We brought in balloons, cake and cookies. Had a table for the gift but asked to have them delivered if they were big (some did, some didn’t but glad we requested.) The place was decoration itself so there was barely anything to set up. They also had a fabulous catering menu.

Pinterest is a great place to look 😊

I bought a notebook with her name on it. And every year I have guests, and myself, write a letter to her. Whether its favorite memories from the past year or future apsirations for her or just well wishes. I plan to give it to her on her 18th birthday, unless it's too full by 16. Bot sure yet.

I did this idea at my baby shower I loved it ! Will do this idea again for my baby😊

For my son we did a Disney cars theme for my daughter we did One in a melon

I'm getting ready to celebrate my youngests 1st birthday next Tuesday!! We don't have a lot of friends or family where we live so I've been struggling with wanting to do anything cuz it just makes me sad.. But I'm just doing some homemade decorations I found on Pinterest and making him a cake (I've always made my boys their cakes while they're younger and let me lol) and then we're going as a family to the aquarium and out to dinner.. I'm doing a Hungry Caterpillar theme cuz he LOVES that book!

Being with family is always best!

That is the cutest theme !!!

You can also check out Pintrest

I had my son’s at a hall and made it nautical themed. I was overwhelmed with other things at the time (which I didn’t expect), so I didn’t go too crazy with his party. My cousin helped a lot with decorating and my fiancé did all the cooking.

My sons first birthday is on the 26th of this month! We are taking him to the aquarium and making it more of a family day rather than having a party!

I'm gonna make him a cake and do a little photoshoot with the theme "oFISHally ONE" 😁🐠

I’m leaning towards a day with my son versus a party. But I just know my mom is going to try to convince me otherwise LOL.

Omg yesss do it in time! Lol I started planning for my girls bday Sunday the 5th and her party is gona be the 12! And I’m doing all the decorations! And we’re doing it at a park... the weather in May is usually nice so you could do it at a park too

I do sensory trays through my business if you're interested or looking for activities for your party or even some activity ideas I'm happy to help. :)

Im latina and my sons party will probably be big 50+ guests. Has anyone had a similar experience?!

My friends daughters first bday had 80 people... more than their wedding. She did it at a park with a bbq.

I don’t really want to do a party but I like looking at party decorations lol.

My husband and I are thinking of doing a seasme street theme at our home.

Aww my boys also turn 1 in May need to start planning too

My son’s first birthday is in April and we will be inviting his grandma and grandpas and aunts and such, and friends that we have been having play dates with, which adds up to about 40 people. We’ll be doing a smash cake as well and lots of decorations! We are having it at an indoor play place at our local YMCA!

My sister did a jungle theme at home for her daughters party but I feel like that theme isn’t that gender specific. There are many thing you can RE cakes and decorations. Pinterest will be your best friend once you pick a theme 😊

Following my daughter is 1 May 2020 also

I did a "one in a melon theme" and it was in may as well to start off the season of beautiful weather 😊

We did a one in a melon theme! It was so fun!

Do yourself a favor and stay at HOME! We did a small Winnie the Pooh theme party and it turned out incredible. It was only 2 hrs on a Sunday early in the day and everything went perfect.

Picnic in the park with some friends, asked everyone to bring a bowl of something, put a gazebo up, had some push toys and cars and a bubble machine to keep the little ones entertained. The parties thereafter were always increasingly more extravagant so I loved the simplicity of the 1st party!

My son will be 1 in June! We are doing a Harry Potter theme!

What are you doing 🙌🏻 x

My daughter turned one last May and we did a twinkle twinkle little star themed party at home with snacks. It was in Florida so outside was too hot. It was nice having it at home so she could nap and play.

I wanna do a bumble bee theme when my little turns one in June. Just gotta talk my man into it lol

I think I'm heading towards a ladybug theme to match her lady bug 1st birthday dress. Maybe the park.. always easy. Haven't thought about it much cause I'm not ready. Its going too fast. She'll be 1 on April 29th.

My first son we had his party at home (end of July it's to hot to be outside) and was Paw Patrol themed my daughter turned one last year and we started out at a park and had to end up moving it back to my house (end of April and it was cold and rainy) and this year my second son turns one in May and I haven't really thought of a theme yet but I want to try to have it outside. My sister's daughter is also turning one in February and her theme is Valentine's

My son turned one in Dec. We had an indoor UNO party. My cousins go from age 4 to 23 so we did all sorts of activities to keep them entertained, including karaeoke. I saved the top tier of the cake and did a smash cake photo session the next day.

Suggestions -use a frosting cake for the smash pictures, it makes for a better mess. Also I did a photo book for the ocassion on shutterfly.

Have you thought of finding a children's museum in your area? That would be a great place to host a first birthday party 😊

We do! I just don’t know too many moms yet to have a party with kids. I’ll probably keep it simple and do a photo shoot and make it a special day doing what he likes.

My sister works at a hotel and her boss gave me one of their smaller party rooms for free. I had food catered, Italian food of course 🇮🇹 I made it a Cookie Monster theme. So the cake that I had made was Cookie Monster. My niece and I made cookie monster center pieces. My sister's coworker's wife made cookie monster cupcakes and I bought cookie monster lollipops. Hired a clown for all the kiddies. It was fun! I have pictures if you want to see! My son turned 4 on Thanksgiving, so he's a big boy now 😭

We did pokemon for our first eere doing Harry Potter in April for our second

My family has a fun tradition we do before cake. We put a shot glass, a dollar bill and a rosary in front of the baby and see which one they pick. A dollar bill indicates they will be good with money, a rosary means they will be a saint and a shot glass means trouble. Lol.

That's awesome. I'm gonna steal this idea lol.
