Hey, my son is exactly the same! He’s just over 4 months. But started doing it around 3 months! He even makes himself sick sometimes! I think it’s best to just let them do it, I’m sure they will soon learn 🤣 I have a teething monkey which he loves, that does stop him every now and then xx
Ah bless him! Yes my little ones been sick a couple of times aswell! 🙈 I think your right they'll learn eventually, it's all part of it i guess! I'll have a look at them! Thankyou! 😊 xxx
My daughter is 3 months and I can’t keep her hands out of her mouth! She does the exact same things and yes she gags as well... I haven’t done anything about it I figured it is all normal so why fight it
My daughter does the same. They are just exploring their hands as it’s all new too them. I’ve even had a women come up to me while if a cafe and said I think your baby is hungry she is chewing hand! I replied Thank you for the advise but she just had her bottle, she just likes chewing then for comfort! Through gritted teeth lol xx

Yes my son does the same, hes teething like crazy, hes 8 months and has 6 teeth already and working on more, i freeze fresh fruit and put it in a silicone baby feeder he loves it!!
My daughter is 4 months and does the same thing. It’s partly they are learning and partly it makes their gums feel better. My daughter chews them so often she started giving herself sores in her fingers so I picked up a teething mitten and it seems to help a lot since it’s on her hand she doesn’t have a problem getting it to her mouth like she does with some toys.

April, can you please tell me which mitten you got. I purchased one mitten from Amazon but it’s too big and my baby doesn’t seem to like it. He cries every time I try to put it on him 😂
I'll look into them teething mittens! I have seen them around! I think he'll like that! Thankyou 😊
My oldest did this, and now my youngest is starting to already do it as well haha. I think it’s normal, like you said it’s a sensory thing but also it’s helping to build that immune system! If he wants to eat his hands there’s probably very little you can do to stop him from it lol

I know! It's crazy how they learn and explore so quickly! He's only 12 weeks and it's incredible what he's learnt already! 🙈
I agree on trying those teether mittens, maybe for a while then transition back to toys.

I think I'll give them ago! Thankyou 😊
My son does the same thing. He’s about to be 4 months old but he’s been doing it since about 2.5 months old. We got my son a teething mitt and my son loves it but after a bit he realizes his other hand is still free so he starts chewing on that hand. 🤦🏼♀️

Yeah he does the same! When i give him a toy he goes for the other hand 😂🙈
My 4 month old eats her hands and when she was 3 months old she would do it until she gagged. She has since learned that it doesn't feel good when she does that, and doesn't gag as much. She still eats her hands though. He will likely learn not to put them in so far as to gag on his own. Teething mittens are good if you can get them to stay on.

I hope so, he keeps making himself sick where he does it so much! 🙄 I think I'll get a teething mitten and see how he gets on! Thankyou 😊
Yeah, completely normal love. My now 8month old son started chewing his hands at 2 months old. He never took a dummy. He choked himself quit a few times when he first started doing it. Once to the point of throwing up. I tried the mitten and sooo many teething toys lol he just prefers his salty hands lol. He still chews on them to this day. Not much you can do lol.
My son is 3 and a half months and does the same. He is teething for sure. You can see the bumps in his gums

My 7 month old did this at 3 months complete with buckets of drool. 4 months on and they are all sitting just under the surface so they will all come through at once. Thought I was going to get a break with this one lol
Yes he likes my knuckle the best
Yeah son did that they are exploring their hand
It’s a phase and it will pass... if only I knew why they do it for a bit - but it’s apprently something they feel a need to do 🤗

Teething most likely. Mine did it too
So we went through the same thing. It’s a stage. They are exploring the work through their mouth and hands. We were told that at birth their gag reflex is very sensitive - at the front of their mouths. This stage actually helps them move the gag reflex back into their throats so they are more prepared when it’s time for solids. Hope that helps.

The world* not the work haha
My daughter is two months and has discovered her hands! They are constantly in her mouth, my dr also told me it’s a way they start to learn how to self soothe
OMG me too! She has a soft chewy think she likes and distracting her helps. Or milk. Good luck x
My little boy does the same, I’ve just introduced the match monkey thing and he loves it. Would 100% recommend one
Adorable baby!! Mine does the same. He is my third they all did this but not as much as the youngest
My ten month old does it.. and with the cold weather his poor hand is so red! Definitely from teething
My baby does this too, I think it’s because there gums are itching and there teething I’ve heard
My baby does ! Hes teething though .
My son is three months as well and has been chewing his hands for a good month now it’s gotten a lot more prominent the older he’s gotten him officially been three months today
Wish I had advice. My 4 month old is constantly chewing them. I have a whole bin of teethers including Sophie the giraffe. He likes them but then he gets upset and cries because he can’t coordinate his hands to do what he wants them to do yet. I think I’m a week or so he will. But man is this a hard stage. I use lots of baby hand sanitizer wipes and foam. The Babyganics ones with no alcohol. 🤷🏼♀️ “Eat those hands baby”

My baby girl hates teething toys as well and only like her hands, bibs, blankets or her clothes lol
My daughter is 4 months and has been eating her hands for the past month or so. She also gags herself sometimes 🤦🏻♀️ but she loves to chomp away on them lol!
Mine is 3 months and tries to stick his whole fist in his mouth. He gags all the time but I read that its their 1st attempts to self sooth. He refuses all pacifiers so I just let him chomp on his hands cuz it seems to make him happy.
My 10 week old tries to get both her hands in her mouth, although I don’t think she knows how to fully control them yet. It actually makes me proud that she is self soothing. I also think it’s adorable, and she enjoys it so much that I want a bite!
Mine is tasting his feet too🤣

My son did the same. His was due to reflux. Might be worth considering if you're not sure if he's teething.

New mum here to a 12 week old, my boy does this and is quite aggressive sometimes, he has bad reflux also. How does reflux cause this if you dont mind me asking? x
My little one is 2 months and already hand eating

My baby too and I’ve been wondering the same thing, I know she’s not hungry but she puts it in her mouth all the time
My little one is three months and just discovered his hands so glad you posted about this as I’m the same as you , knew he wasn’t hungry or tired just likes putting them in his mouth hahah x

My son is 3 months old too!
I just bought my daughter a hand teething unicorn mit it fits right over her hand!!
My little guy does this!! Almost 4 months and allllways has them in his mouth! No signs of stopping now lol but I do believe he is teething!
Just you wait until he's a little older and discovers his feet and how to put 'em in his mouth 🤷🤷🤣🤣 #MyCurrentFight along with hands in her mouth all the time
My son does the same thing and he just turned five months. It is totally normal and actually will help them self sooth at night. You can try those mittens that are teething toys for the hands or keep on replacing his hand with a toy. However, I would not worry about it at all.
Literally the same thing with my 3 month old daughter...the Dr said its bc shes starting to teeth a bit early
It’s completely normal!! He is gaining control of his limbs and just discovered that they’re his hands and he can do whatever he wants with them. He’ll go through the same thing with his feet once he’s able to lift his legs in the air while lying on his back.
It should get better! My son was the same! He started about that age and mostly due to his teething. I also learned too that they gradually create their gag reflex over time so it’s natural for the gagging.
It’s teething! My nurse said teething lol! All my babies started teething early like 2months and full hands in mouth by 3/4, my son now 5 months today when nursing he tries to stick his finger in hahaha! But my 3 and 2 year old did the same thing and stopped towards the stage when more teeth was in their mouth and eating more. So I’m right here with you sis
My 3 month old is exactly the same, also makes himself gag sometimes 🙈😂 They are teething and it's their way of soothing their gums but also because they are experiencing their limbs. No interest in teething toys either, just his fist. X
From my experience, they do grow out of it. It teaches them a lot, believe it or not... Things like "oh, this feels neat," or, "Ow, that hurt!" And such. So, don't worry too much. I've never seen a baby that wasn't obsessed with eating their hands or feet for at least a little bit. ;) Just try supplying him with some cold teething toys, etc. :) "This too shall pass." ;)
My 2 month old started eating and gagging. Base on what I read here it’s normal then.
He’s adorable

My son is 6 months now. Still gnawing on hands and fingers and other people's too. I thought maybe he was teething early. Nothing yet. He was too young for a teether or anything. But I'd recommend moon jaxs I swear it's designed for earlier chewers who are too young to coordinate items into their mouths and can't keep their hands up without dropping them or flailing.
My daughter has been doing this since she turned 2 months. But now that she’s going on 3 months she’s so into her hands that she also makes herself gags sometimes and then she just looks at me with so much disgust like it’s my fault 😂 I’ve tried teething mittens, teething toys and whatever else but she prefers the hand
He will learn not to gag on his fingers, it’s a reflex and it is completely normal.
Mine does his thumb. Which. Is cute because I have an ultrasound picture of him doing it inside lol. However, I do give him a cold pacifier and toys so this doesn’t become a habit. Down the road I can take his pacifier away not his thumb lol. Plus you have not control over how many germs he would eat when he starts walking. It will also mess up his teeth more that a. Pacifier. Ughhhh the struggle is real!🤷🏻♀️
Mine does exactly the same thing! I’m hoping she grows out of it x
Oh god that's awful! I hate judgemental people! Theres nothing worse! 🙄 Yeah i know he's just exploring its just completely taken over 😂 especially when he stops his feeds to have a munch on his hand! 🙈 xx
