I am a Boy !

Some people think my son Hunter is a girl it’s getting so bad that he has been stop 2 times in a public bathroom to go to the girls room my son who has receptive and expression speech delay ( autism spectrum) so it’s hard for him to express himself to communicate he’s a boy he leave the rest room and get me ( I wait for him by the door ) I try to take him in the bathroom with me ( women’s bathroom) but he refuses but it is difficult. I tell him whoever is in the bathroom if they say something to him to tell them I’m a boy !!! Does anyone else have suggestions? My son is in the pic ❤️

In this picture he has baby hairs that most women would be jealous of (speaking as a woman of color). I would’ve mistaken him for a girl too!!! 😬 He just has the cutest little button features and unfortunately, they are associated with being a girl. I hate to suggest that you change his hairstyle, but it might be necessary. Give him a fade and a tape and I think you’ll get fewer comments about him looking like a girl.

Beautiful boy! Some people think my baby boy is a baby girl as well lol I don't get offended but if you want him to be obvious that he is a boy, a classic haircut for boys and clothing that is obviously for boys would do. However I am not a fan of girls wearing pink and boys wearing blue but that may do the trick in your case.

He is beautiful! No suggestions as it happens with my little guy too!

Very handsome boy! 😍

And he's also ASD

@丅ᗴᛕᎥᗩ he's is so handsome 😍 this day in age its crazy why can't boys have hair my son now 3. I love my new neighbor was like her boys didn't have hair i dnt say anything but was mad. but another neighbor that I consider is nosey. Was like why he got hair like a girl and would say little things that would annoy me. The other day she's like all that hair. Cus he's my first she thk she knows it all like I'm doing something wrong she was like got him wrapped up like a baby I had a blanket over him in his stroller it was 🥶 what did she not expect him to be warm smh

My older boy is 4 and a half and people always think he’s a girl because of his long hair. My husband is Sikh so his religion requires u not to cut hair.

Just an idea? Mount Sinai has free pins that show what gender people identify as. He/his - she/hers - blank - pins. It's on their main floor I believe just on a table for free to take. Maybe take a few of the he /him pins and then whenever he is in public and goes to the bathroom and has delayed response to individuals to let them know he's a boy - he can just point at the pin? Could find something funky on Amazon or etsy too? A pin might work as it can just be quickly fastened and on any article of clothing

He’s adorable. For now, I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. My son had longer hair when he was young and was mistaken as a girl at times. No matter how “boyish” his clothes were. I say let him be him. Wear what he wants, wear his hair how he wants. When he goes to school, they will know his name and that he is a boy.

Oh my goodness he’s stunning 💙

Awww, he is too gorgeous 😍

He is sooo handsome. Probably dressing him in really "boy" clothes might help? Like trucks or dinos? Sorry people don't mind their business and you have to deal with this.

Pigtails seems to make her a girl to everyone else. A short hairdo would probably do it for your son (if you like short hair)

My girl has some of the same features and everyone always thinks she is a boy!

Both my boys have the same problem my eldest was even called a girl last week he’s 13 and has his hair in short twist. My youngest who’s 6 has long curly hair (also non verbal autism) both have the biggest brown eyes and long thick eyelashes like their dad. It used to annoy me when people would say how pretty they are but now I smile and say “thank you he’s a boy”

I love his eyelashes 😍 my son have long eyelashes as well. He also has curly/wavy hair and sometimes gets mistaken for a girl. He is 7months

Lol people think my son is a girl as well as he has long curly hair and sometimes I tie it up because it's so hot ☀️🙂, and they go "omg what a pretty little girl" even though his clearly wearing car 🚗 tops lol but I just laugh and ignore it or say thank you 🤣 😹 ..

All my sons up until the age of 2…people thought they were girls. Sometime people don’t pay attention to clothing or maybe they can just talk to you if they weren’t sure. I would just keep encouraging him. He is so handsome

He is super good looking!! 💛💛💛

I go through the same thing with my son, I really don’t have any suggestions. He has long hair like my son and I don’t plan on cutting it anytime soon.

He is so handsome

He’s gorgeous 😍

I'm going thru this early @ 8 months

He is absolutely adorable 🥰 thinking he’s a girl is definitely a compliment but I can understand his frustration and yours as a mother. He’s a pretty boy he can’t help that. And people should know that if you’re standing right there, you wouldn’t let your child go in the wrong bathroom. But people obviously don’t think properly smh

Up til around age 7 children’s faces/facial features up close can’t be distinguished as masculine/feminine so if in neutral clothing and with longer hair it’s understandable people may mistake him for a girl. It’s the reason why mums of little boys with long hair spend a lot of time saying “you mean he, he’s a boy he’s just got long hair” 🥰

He is lovely 🥰

He is sooo adorable 🥰

He is gorgeous 😍

He's absolutely adorable a beautiful child

Wow he is beautiful 🤩😍

That’s a huge compliment though!! He’s that handsome that I actually thought he was a girl also.

i use to get that a lot with my second son , he had a lot of hair && looked like a girl it got to the point where my neighbor brought him bows && barrettes 🤦🏽‍♀️

He is a beautiful child! Modeling? ❤️

He is absolutely gorgeous. A beautiful boy! Sweet face! Keep on loving and supporting him. You n hubby are nice looking so the kid couldn't escape 🤭

He is gorgeous, I know it’s stereotypical and shouldn’t be required. But surely blue, green, red T-shirt’s will help

My son has been getting this too especially now his hair is growing. We just smile and correct people and I just tell him how beautiful he is 😊.

He's so cute!! People be thinking my son is a girl too. I guess because of his long hair but he's never been stopped in a bathroom before. We just get used to it and just keep correcting people. I guess you have to teach them to keep saying they are a boy.

My God, your son is beautiful 😩! Modelling?

What a gorgeous little man you have there! I would make him a little sign he can wear on a necklace or out in his pocket that says he’s a boy, of course I find it ridiculous for anyone to say anything to him at all. He’s a small child.

Hes so handome! 😍

What about getting him something that says " I'm a boy " on it? Something laminated to keep in his pocket. That way if he can't express it verbally maybe he can show it to them? This was suggested to a friend of mine with a non verbal child.

Those eyes ❤️ My son also has receptive and expressive language disorder, is he in speech therapy? This could be something that could be worked on. It gets better as they get older, promise!

He is gorgeous! I’m sorry momma that has to be tough! My son is on the spectrum also it can be hard. I’m a boy is perfect to teach him to say ❤️

That boy has a beautiful face 🤩 Normally children with hair get that problem. It’s no ones business if he’s a boy or girl or what restroom he’s in.

If this continues I would start asking the employees to use a private bathroom so your child doesn’t get embarrassed. And if they refuse ask to speak to manager

Thank you hun 🥰

I agree! What a handsome lil man!!! Give him the confidence to confront anyone who doubts him by telling him he can respond with "I'm a boy". It will pay off in the long run.

I’m sorry . He’s so handsome ❤️

Thank you Miya

He’s perfect! My advice to you is stay consistent. “I am a boy” is a perfect, straight forward statement. Confidence is key and being assertive is not wrong. Remind him to keep his chin up and instill more confidence in him. Tell him he is smart, and handsome. My dms are always open

Awee thanks Linda ❤️❤️

He’s BEAUTIFUL ! My sons only one and to me and my family he undoubtedly looks like a boy. But, he is FREQUENTLY... almost constantly referred to as she or my daughter. I haven’t found a solution yet other than to walk away because I just don’t think people even put in the effort and I just don’t have the time or patience.

He is good looking boy I can see why , I would take that as a plus ,that will change as he grows up it could be worse my girl looked like a boy until puberty 😂 .
