I heard this women put the saying “All lives matter” this way. Say we all sit down to eat and everyone gets a plate of food except for Bob. Bob says “I’m hungry. I want a plate of food.” then Karen says “We’re all hungry, Bob.” Bob says “But I don’t have any food. I want food.” then Karen says “We all deserve food, Bob.” with her full plate and continues to eat. Do they all deserve food? Of course! But saying it still doesn’t change that Bob doesn’t have any food. Do all lives matter? Yes. But saying it doesn’t change the fact that black lives have not mattered for years. Don’t be mad because you don’t have a movement. Be happy you don’t need one. Black lives matter.🤍✊🏽

What’s happening now with all the riots, looting and protesting, is no different then the Rodney king riots. Police brutality among black people don’t change. When will it be enough? It’s been 28 years since it happened, now History is repeating itself.

Ladies she'll never get it because she doesn't want to. She believes what she believes which is sad and pathetic but JUSTINE has no intention of understanding any point of view other than her own.

Good for you that you finally get it. I really don't need to read that article as I know very well what racism is and have experienced it. When you don't understand something and really want to you should shut up, listen, absorb and process the information and continue the conversation. Your going around saying you don't believe in racism only escalates the situation. By saying you don't believe you were saying it's not real or doesn't exist from your point of view. That debases everything and everyone who continually experience racism. I'm glad you finally got it though and I hope you teach your child /children and family.

Shout out to the Peanut team for posting this on their own and acknowledging it. As a company and app that affects millions, it does speak volumes. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Why are threads being deleted?🤔

Idk... I made one about this topic and it’s not longer posted

All kinds of posts get deleted. Some its hard to even say why they were removed, if it was by peanut....or by the original poster. Some threads may be deleted because although the initial message and cause is great.... most non poc people can't respond without being just attacked for having an opinion that differs on it. That's my guess. I've seen a lot of women on here being attacked and treated hatefully just for having an opinion that's not the same as the majority on the thread. Which isn't really necessary. At least I don't think so. If this app is for all moms, it should be understood that not everyone thinks in the exact same way. If you don't agree with someone's comment... you could just be big enough to scroll past and not attack the person. But that's not the current norm. Either way, there's no knowing on our end why things end up gone from the threads

No I understand I was being sarcastic because I assumed the original poster deleted it. No one was attacked or treated with hate. If someone perceived information as hate that's on them. That is their bias. Also there is no 'opinion' when it comes to the specific topic that racism can or cannot be experienced by a white person. The plain fact is no a white person cannot experience racism. No if ands or buts. That's what I and others have been spending all day trying to explain.

I wasn't talking about just this post. Many posts are being deleted and I don't know why. That was just a guess.

So based on those definitions persons of any color or non color (white) can experience race prejudice. Maybe that helps some of the all day arguments going on here. Maybe not. Commence the reply attacks if you need to. Just thought the clarification of the 2.... in definition may be helpful as I didn't see it in the previous replies etc.

Exactly! It was explained by several people in several threads.

Some people require textbook definitions. Can't explain why. Just thought it might help to visually see it for some people. It comes off less argumentative, so hopefully it helps. If not, anyone can just scroll past.

Ok. Now let’s look at all of the white people in the same situation.

This is a good article that was shared by a woman named Emily. Please read it. https://metro-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/metro.co.uk/2020/03/09/can-white-people-experience-racism-12340542/amp/?amp_js_v=a3&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA%3D#aoh=15911186351655&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fmetro.co.uk%2F2020%2F03%2F09%2Fcan-white-people-experience-racism-12340542%2F

See you haven’t even bothered to understand what I have said. I’m also not saying all lives don’t matter because everybody’s life definitely matters we’re all human and no matter what race, religion, background we are we should all be treated equally and be cared about.

Amazon has some amazing books aswell we need teach our kids because they are the future. This cant go on we can't ignore this in a few months we need to constantly have these conversations everyone is important no matter who you are. Black men , women and children shouldn't have to feel this way , they shouldn't have to feel like they are being judged. My kids will be taught to grow up loving everyone no matter what race they may be. God created us all ALL his creation is perfect 🙌

I am a black woman, a black officer of the law, & I don’t discriminate EVER. I teach my daughter it’s not about the outer layer appearance it’s about what’s in the heart but when we scream BLACK LIVES MATTER please understand we are not saying “ONLY” black lives matter. We are saying WE MATTER TOO 🤷🏽‍♀️

How you worded that was really helpful, thank you

Honestly I love everyone. I never ever discriminate and everyone matters too me I’d never say WE ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT MATTER that’s me saying, my cousin don’t matter, my step father doesn’t matter? EVERYONE MATTERS but we scream Black Lives Matters because at the moment it does feel like we don’t matter, there’s so many debating on why this is justifiable but how I feel no ones deserves to die like that if it was a white man that died in that matter I’d be screaming and protesting for justice IDC

Thanks!!!

I feel like this a great platform to discuss this topic because I can be honest and say in 2020 I am scared to raise my black son and when we say black lives matter we are not disregarding the fact that there are other races creeds and nationalities that matter as well but the way we feel discriminated against almost hunted and hated for our skin color more than almost any other race is just astounding to me I love every single person on this earth because I have love in my heart no matter who you are what you look like what color you are but me as a black woman I don’t feel like it is reciprocated we want to feel like we matter too because we deserve to

Best thing I've seen on here. Love this!

Threads that Tanya posted are all gone now as well as important information under them. This has to stop.

You’ve done so much emotional labour on this post. I admire your patience.

Time to start screen shotting each conversation. Clearly people realize how wrong they are.

Thank you let's all do our part to prevent this from happening ever again ❤❤

WOW, she is amazing! Stayed up late watching YouTube clips of her... ❗Can't get enough. Thanks again for sharing. Everyone should hear what she has to say 📣

I'm at the point now that I refuse to read comments. I'd like to thank Peanut for publicly taking a stand against racially charged in justices! Thank you for providing resources for change. God bless

I'm thinking to do the same too. Bella's post got me heated just now.

Justice for Breonna Taylor. My hope is that we will show up and show up for black women who are victims of police brutality.

Amen 🙏🏾

There is a quiet rage I feel eating me up inside from everything on social media. At this point I can no longer spend time trying to change people's minds on black lives matter, racism, or intersectionality. Believe what you like. There is enough information out there for individuals to research rather than just make performative statements. My liberation doesn't depend on whether any individual believes my experience. I will take up space as a Black woman unapologetically and hold corporations and people accountable. I will practice self-care and take actions that further an agenda that progresses toward freedom for everyone because many of you think you are free because you aren't Black. Corporations been outed to be living paycheck to paycheck like most citizens of this country. The system demonizes the poor and POC. My duty is to prepare my child to assertively take up space and not shrink herself to make others comfortable. To shine her light brightly. I will continue to take action for progress.

So true. The gaslighting is real

I don't think people realize how traumatic this is for us every day to have to discuss the importance of our lives! So much internet out there and instead people are using it to argue with us. There are NO SAFE PLACES FOR US. This is supposed to be us discussing ways to help the movement and we have literally spent days arguing with people who could have made their own forum called All Lives Matter. I am thankful for all the voices who came forward to try to educate the women in here who just didn't get it.

All lives do not matter until black lives do! What do we see mostly on the news, and on social media!? Cops killing our black people!!!!! Yes not all cops are bad, but some people also need to realize NOT ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE BAD EITHER! Girl I’m really good friends with asked me to be her maid of honor in her wedding, guess what, she’s black. She has welcomed me in her arms in her home no matter what time it was or no matter what she was going through. The most snobbiest people I have EVER met were white bc some of them think their shit don’t stink just bc I had bad teeth due to a health issue. Something has to be done because this race issue is getting bad and it needs to stop!

I don't have any experience with being on the receiving end of racism. I'm a white woman who grew up in the south my skin protected me from all of the horrible things I heard and saw happen. I can't begin to express how horrible it is that in 2020 we are STILL having to fight and protest the mistreatment and straight murder of our black brothers and sisters. Especially when the very people who are supposed to keep us safe are the ones doing the killing.

I'm due In September with my first child, a daughter. She will be mixed race. Caucasian & Indian. I'm scared for her. I'm scared that I'm going to have to have a similar conversation with her that so many black mom's have to have with their children every day. And even if I don't, how do I explain to her that the people she is supposed to go to for help are out there hurting and killing innocent men and women who are simply trying to go about their daily lives? I've donated, I've gone to protest, I've volunteered...it's not enough. It will never be enough. We as allies can do better. We should do better. We HAVE to do better. Nothing will change untill laws are in place and ENFORCED!!

I don’t see why we have to constantly justify or explain why we should get the same basic respect that everyone else seems to receive and then for people that have never had to experience being treated less than human and being hated for just basically being born a different color (because I have still not heard a valid reason for the hatred of black people ) the treatment us as black women and men is disgusting we are profiled ridiculed hunted like animals and all we state to the world is that we matter as well and for people to try and take our statement of equality away by saying they matter too well duh we know you matter but do you know we matter as well

📣 Everyone we all Have to Do something different to fix this! Once these Emotions subside Then What❓ 👍Please Share with your Loved❤ones and yourself. (Jane Elliott Anti-Racism Educator). Racism prevention Quick videos please watch on YouTube. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

How would you teach your child about the privilege of white passing? In Canada, we have systemic racism against POC and Indigenous people. My son is Metis. He's also white, blue eyed and ginger. I'd love some parenting advice.

I would look into information on colorism and Google "white passing" . I'm sure people have written about their experiences.

Please teach him not only about the systemic racism against indigenous people but the horrific violence against Canadian indigenous people too. The residential schools, the enslavement, and the present day neglect of indigenous communities by our Government. Since he presents as white, it is important to teach him that he will benefit from many privileges that his darker skinned/haired/featured brothers and sisters are not afforded. Knowing his history will be important.

Ok, here's where my learning needs to begin. What is colorism and I'm sorry I need to ask.

Colorism is when you are discriminating against someone of a darker skin tone when they are the same race as you. So for e.g a lighter skin black person saying they hate dark skin people or calling dark skin people’s hair nappy or tough is being colourist. Like Renee said it’s too much to explain but that’s just a small part of it

It's too much to explain in a post. Honestly, Google is your friend. There is a lot of info out there and resources. People have been white passing for a long time so people have likely discussed what it feels like, how people treat them, and how they've come to turns with it. Wikipedia even has references to articles and books available on topics listed.

Something else to add. I know people mean well with their questions and I'm sure most people are more than willing to direct others to where they can find out more about some of these issues. POC have been documenting and discussing their experiences for centuries. There are fictional accounts, academic research, memoirs, and non-fiction literature available to read. It may take a bit of searching and reading several perspectives to get to a place of empathy. Just understand, like it's been said before, it's a lot of emotional labor on POC to educate others in everyday life. Google is seriously your friend. If your unsure, ask someone for confirmation not an explanation.

Yes a wealth of info available at the local library. There are also documentaries and etc. For example, 13th by Ava Duvernay When They See Us (The Central Park Five) by Ava Duvernay Whose Streets? Fruitvale Station (about Oscar Grant) Time: The Kalief Browder Story 16 Shots Say Her Name: The Life and Death of Sandra Bland Let It Fall: Los Angeles

Looks like all the posters who argued All Lives Mattered are now deleted. And there were so many. So either they deleted them or Peanut decided to.

I can only imagine how strong and informed your kids will be. Thank you.

This is my hope

Thank you for setting this up. So important, and tragic that it’s needed

Thank you for this!

I apologize, I never intended to offend or hurt anybody. Thank you for pointing out that my question was inappropriate & I will definitely spend some time on Google. From what I read of your appreciated responses, it's a very complex and insidious issue.

Hey just for the record I don’t think your comment was inappropriate. I think you may have asked the wrong ppl just bc someone who is currently living your experience may be able to tell you better what they do vs just the general knowledge we have to share. I will be the first to say that it is tiring educating otherwise educated ppl on racism BUT if someone is asking for a genuine desire to learn and apply (and not just for arguments sake) I am more than willing to be a resource and ally in any way I can.

It came from a good place. Just wanted to put that out there to remind everyone that there is a wealth of info out there. Even as POC we may not have the answers. There are people who study this and how to maneuver it for a living.
