10th percentile...

I went to the pediatrician with my daughter Tuesday and was informed that she’s on the 10th percentile for weight. She’s 2 months and weighs 8 lbs and 9 oz. I don’t know what else to do to help her gain weight. She has been put on milk with rice starch, but I’m not sure that’s going to help. Anyone else have this problem?

I had this problem with my little girl she was on 0.4 percentile was like that in pregnancy as well she gains weight but very small amounts but is very petite my ex and myself small people so health visitor wasn’t concerned at all as longly she is gaining and not losing weight that’s main thing unless it’s growth spurts so she will lose then gain again she’s only two months as long as she’s healthy in herself not constantly hungry eating well I’m sure she will be fine

Keep an eye and stay in touch with your pediatrician. Mine was at 8.5%, I did pumping and supplemental feeding and had his tongue tie corrected and he started gaining enough weight within a couple weeks. Some other moms I heard simply give a formula topper when diagnosed with slow weight gain. Hope your LO gains weight soon!

As long as she is growing (not decreasing percentiles on her next checkups) I wouldn't worry about it. My daughter weighed 4lbs 15 ounces when she was born and wasn't even on the growth chart. At 2 months she weighed less than that! Just keep feeding her and giving her love.

My preemie was tiny too, born 4 lbs 5 oz and was around the same size I think. We did fortified breast milk aka formula powder in breast milk for a few weeks and that got her on the gain train.
