First pregnancy and emetophobia??

Just found out this week that I’m pregnant with my husband and I’s first baby!! We are so excited, but I’m having some serious anxiety kicking in too. According to the date of my last period, I’m about 4w3d, and I’m starting to get really nervous about morning sickness. I have had pretty severe emetophobia (phobia of vomiting) for most of my life and go into full blown panic attacks whenever I think it’s even a POSSIBILITY that I will vomit. I want to enjoy every minute of being pregnant but I’m already dreading the next few months. Any advice from other emetophobic mommas out there that have been through it? 💕

Hi. Sorry to jump on an old post but I was wondering how you’re doing and how you’ve handled any times uou were sick. I’m TTC at the moment but very scared about the reality of falling and then having to face my fear if morning sickness happens!

Congratulations! 💕 Some women don't experience any morning sickness, and sometimes it never turns into vomiting! I personally had it my whole pregnancy and I used to hold it in until I physically couldn't because I hated it so much. Eventually it just became "normal" to me. I still enjoyed my entire pregnancy because I tried to shift my focus towards the beautiful parts of pregnancy. Don't stress too much about it though. For most women, if they experience it, it's a small portion of the pregnancy.

I don't know if this helps, but I never threw up once throughout my whole pregnancy. I was only nauseous a few times. My sister in law said she was the same way, so maybe you will be like me and won't have to worry about it at all.

Talk to your doctor? There is medication out there for morning sickness called diclectin. I was on it as I work in a restaurant in a management and the smells were very difficult to combat and I could not keeping running to the washroom and job effectively. It kept everything down for me. Of you do get to go on it be careful when you come off of it. Ween yourself off by dropping the dose on halves a week at a time in order to prevent the return of morning sickness. I seriously swore by that stuff.
