What was one “rule” you broke when you got home with your baby?

Gave birth to my perfect boy on Monday. They gave so many rules about sleeping and feeding. What was one “rule” you broke when you got home with your baby?

Co sleeping, so many scare stories prior to giving birth that I was adamant I wouldn’t do it. I had to stay In for a few nights after my first birth and I literally couldn’t get my little girl to settle, I called the midwife for help and she said oh she just wants to be close to you, put her in the bed with you. I was thinking, this is the one thing I have been told not to do this whole pregnancy 🙈😂 Since she was born she slept in my bed, she is now five and just gone into sleeping in her own bed the whole night 🙌🏻 finally 😂

My baby wouldn’t sleep at all for a week. She was born sunny side up and had a terrible bruised head. So I let her sleep on her tummy in her next to me. This was the only way she would sleep. Which is a massive rule broken right there. Also did I never wake her to feed, she would ask for feeds herself and on her first weigh in she had gained weight so that was pretty awesome. (Breastfeeding) Another rule I broke was, I’ve moved her to her own room at 4,5 months. We kept waking each other up. She sleeps so much better. Also I now always put her down on her back to sleep but she’ll turn herself over to sleep on her front most nights. Which they say is fine from when they start doing it themselves 🤪 But honestly your mum instinct will tell you what’s right for YOUR baby. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt and listen to you, and baby. Congratulations mumma.

I followed all the rules but wish I had broke one. I got told to wake every 3 hours for feeding. I did this for the first few weeks and I’m sure it’s partly to blame for her not sleeping through the night until 14 months. Pregnant now and I’m not going to do the same with this one!
