Newborn Placement

So today I got placed with a newborn infant by CPS. She is 2 days old and I need some advice. The youngest baby I’ve been around has been about six-eight months old so their newborn stuff is all new to me! Any tips or advice would be so helpful. Please! Thank you!

Someone gave us one of these secondhand. I thought it was gimmicky, but it has been a lifesaver. We have saved so much time waiting for bottles to warm up while our baby is screaming. All you have to do is load in a bunch of formula, fill up the water reservoir and you have warm instant formula in seconds. I would read up on the fourth trimester. https://sarahockwell-smith.com/2012/11/04/the-fourth-trimester-aka-why-your-newborn-baby-is-only-happy-in-your-arms/

All great advice. Just wanted to add that what you’re feeling is what every new mother feels, however they got their little bundle of joy! You got this!

When my baby had colic we would take turns walking around the house with her at night. I would put her in a wrap on my chest and that seemed to help. On the really tough nights sometimes I would have to walk up and down the stairs or go on the elliptical for a bit to sooth her. I think it was the rhythmic motion. Good luck!

I would sleep on my back with the newborn on my chest (skin-to-skin) if you’re trying to get enough sleep! There are still a lot of wakings, but i felt it was less stressful that way.
