When did your dogs know you were pregnant?

Hey guys! So I have two dogs (one female labrador/border collie named Bailey and one male maltese/mini poodle named Bombon) I’m just curious to hear your stories about being pregnant and having dogs. Did your dogs get jealous when you were pregnant? When did they notice? How did they react when the baby arrived?

My dog has absolutely no idea 😂😂😂 I'm 29 weeks and he's totally oblivious or in denial xx

last year

never, and she wasn’t really my dog she was my bf’s dog. And i despised her during pregnancy. Yeah

last year

My dog knew within 1 week of being pregnant, mad I know!!! She kept bringing me her fav Teddy I actually thought she was the 1 pregnant . Paid for her tests and everything then thought why not check myself and I was 2-3weeks!!!! I think it's mental but lovely she picked up on it before anyone ❤️

I only noticed I was pregnant when me female hunataway x border collie who is very very independent wanted to cuddle all of the time and wouldn't put any weight on my belly... I took 3 tests that day and all came back positive

last year

My pomeranian knew before I did. I find out cause I had a cold and wasn't feeling well went to bathroom he wouldn't leave my side and I was like this can't just be a cold I'm feeling so I took a test and when it came out positive my dog was just sitting there wagging his tail watching me.

My dogs knew before me, kept licking my belly botton and snuffing into my belly I'm now nearly 17 weeks and they still do it🥰

My German shepherd 32 years ago knew the day I fell pregnant. Our smell must be different, I got her when I was pregnant and she nipped me everyday from the day my son was stillborn til the day I fell pregnant with my daughter. She never nipped again. The most amazing dog from the day my daughter was born

last year

my dog knew at 2-3 weeks way before i did 😂, he’d never leave my bed like ever and when we’d go on walks he’d go into full on protective mode when people or dogs got too close. ( i have a german shepherd )

last year

We got our pup when I was 10 weeks pregnant and I'm pretty sure he knew right from the beginning, in fact I think all his litter mates knew too. When we went to choose him, my husband and I both sat down in their pen and they all came straight over to me and we're almost fighting to climb into my lap and snuggling against my tummy. I have a whole album on my phone of his cuddling with my bump and now with our baby. He's so good with him, very gentle and protective, and is always as close as he can get 💕 x

Not sure it's hard to tell, my dog was very protective when my daughter was born and always was at her side when she cried before me. Now I've got a big puppy too (9 mth husky mix) to go with my 8 yr old lhasa apso/terrier.

last year

I found out i was pregnant a couple of days after we brought our puppy so he didn’t have a chance to know me before Bub was growing.

last year

My cat new before I knew. she begs for my food when I’m pregnant, really weird. But she started begging for my food and that made me suspicious

Animals are extremely intelligent...always trust them

I got my puppy a week or so before conception (didn’t know I could get pregnant because i have tried) she sniffs my belly button a lot or tries to lick it lol. I’m now 35 weeks. My other dog which I’ve had for almost 4 years seems very sad at times. Other times, he is very clingy to me and lays next to my belly. He is very gentle but I feel bad about him being sad

Lately neither of them will leave me alone which makes me feel like labor is near

My dog has noticed every pregnancy (she's a weimaraner). She cuddles and protects my tummy every time. She's been there for my losses too. She didn't become a big sister til she was 10 but took to her duties so easily. She's always by my older son's side if he's ill or hurt. She sometimes even detects when my soon to be 3 year old daughter is going into a meltdown. She's getting on a bit now and is falling to bits so she's a bit clumsy round the kids at the moment.

My dog knew before us and we found out after just a couple weeks post-conception. She was very standoffish my entire pregnancy. If I walked into the room, she would get up and leave 😂

My dog knew before I did. He was extremely cuddly with me and wouldn't leave me alone either. I took an at-home test around 5-6 weeks and then got confirmation from an ultrasound stating that I was about 8 weeks. He has been extremely protective during the pregnancy too, specifically by not letting my husband touch the belly at times 🤣

When the baby showed up at home lol

She knew before me which scares me now cuz she’s always at my stomach she’s very clingy before so she was more protective to the point now no males can come close to me that she doesnt know or like and for when her sister came home she was the sweetest thing smelling her protective and she got jealous but knew the baby needed us more and she would cuddle and play with her sister. Dogs are a kids best friend

Before I did. Super affectionate and always by my side.

I have 2 jackrussles am 13wks one of them new at 8wks kept cuddling my belly putting his head on my belly and sniffing my belly lol the other one started doing the same last week or so

We have a 2year old Labrador, she knew I was pregnant before I did, she’d normally run through the fields on walks but just started to not leave my side when out. She definitely knew when I was going into labour before me, she’s never been allowed to sleep upstairs but refused to settle for bed so took her to the bedroom and at 6 am she jumped on the bed while we were sleeping, waters went 15mins after 🙈😊

My dog Belladawn kept shoving her nose in my belly and trying another place as well. She also kept snuggling me more, which was out of character for her because she's a guard dog that doesn't typically want anything to do with me. I took a test for a few days they kept coming negative. At 4 weeks I took another test and it was positive.

My dogs for sure knew before I did! I found out at 4.5 weeks. They stopped jumping on me when I walked through the door about a week before that 🥰😳

Before I did and before I gave birth early

Almost immediately! I joked with my parents because their dog was digging at my belly early as 2/3 weeks and it was all suspicion until I took a test a week later and it be positive and I was 5 weeks pregnant x

Before me lol very clingy

Definitely knew before me lol , he’s already pretty clingy but after I found out I realized he’d literally get out of his bed just to follow me to the bathroom 😂😂. The entirety of my pregnancy he was my shadow anywhere his mommy went, he was right behind me.

My dog was able to tell that my mother was pregnant 13 years ago and I was so excited for her to notice my pregnancy but she never did. I think it’s her old age and the fact that she is not deaf. 😭

In my first pregnancy the dog knew before we did. He would sit by me and snuggle into my tummy. Also act like a weirdo if anyone went near me 😂

my parents/our family dog hasn't noticed yet I don't think d

My dog knew before I did! I kept wondering why she was being even more clingy than usual! I couldn’t move a single inch without her following me. Although she wouldn’t jump up on the sofa and sit with me like she usually would. Did a test and I was pregnant! 16 weeks later and she’s still stuck to my side like a little weirdo! 🤣 oh she now hates my partner!

Mine have just got very clingy. Not sure if it's because I'm home and in the house so much more now or they know something is going on. I'm 39+3 and they do like using my bump as a pillow but they like lying in my lap anyway. I'm not allowed to go for a wee without supervision though. They follow me around the house!

My Labrador was such a daddy’s girl but right before I got my positive test she was all about me and that hasn’t changed yet

My dog knew before I even knew 😂 she was staying at my mom's for awhile cause we we're moving apartments and couldn't bring her right away, she was pretty salty when I visited for Christmas (also her bday) she only got excited to see my husband and wouldn't jump on me I think she just got sad cause she thought she was being replaced cause she went back to her normal self after we brought her home got super anxious towards the end tho but she loves this baby more than anything she'll lay next to him by the co-sleeping bassinet and just watch him, or if she's in the living room and hears him cry she runs to the bedroom 🥺 she knows her limits tho and doesn't lick him without permission

We got a puppy just a month before i had my now 6 month old and i have a picture of the dog laying it head on my belly even when we brought our daughter home the dog was all about the baby. She cried the dog was right their even for a puppy she does great with the baby

I met a dog yesterday ( I don't have a dog( and he could immediately tell I was pregnant as soon as I walked in he came straight up to me, and didn't leave my side the whole time I was there

Our big dog knew about 10wks in, he lays with his head as close as possible to my bump. The other dog lays under my bump across my legs. So no quick get always for me 😂.

My 8 year old lab has known since about 6 weeks I think... he hates the laminate floor but will ALWAYS come and lie on the floor in front of me when I’m sat in the arm chair. My 2 year old lab... she’s oblivious. As needy as usual 😂

I don't think my dog knew until the baby was born 😂 he acted completely normal until we brought my son home. Then he got jealous

It's funny how some seem so clueless and others pick up on it instantly. My cat knew from about 5-6 weeks, she decided she was my new bodyguard lol

I wrote about my one dog who very clearly knew something was up before I did, but I’m pretty sure my other girl is in for a very rude awakening.

They can smell the hormones change in your pee. It’s how I knew I was pregnant! Two weeks in lol.

I'm sure my dog knew even before we did! Me and partner were play fighting and our dog all of a sudden got protective and growled at my partner!! She had never done that before and usually favours him. We found out we were expecting the weekend after this happened! Im due next week and our dog wont leave my side!

My dogs have always been clingy. But I knew I was going to deliver My son when my 2 oldest dogs would not leave my side no matter what. & cried terribly when I locked them out of the bathroom/bedroom.

I have two dogs. Make black lab and male beagle. Oddly enough my black lab knew when I was ovulating because he kept trying to hump me. They both follow me around all the time, especially when I had food, which being pregnant I often did 😂 we snuggled a lot and they enjoyed it but once my belly got too big I could tell they felt a little pushed away since we didn’t fit on the couch anymore. But they were very curious and gentle when my son was born. They know he’s special 🥰

I have a Bailey too! Mine knew before I did I think. Bailey used to jump up when I came in but stopped doing it randomly then I found out I was pregnant

My dog knew straight away, she started getting super clingy. Every time I mention the baby she just side eyes me like "I'm your baby" 🤣🤣

I knew at 5 weeks but my German Sheppard started getting even more protective over me around week 7. She rest her head on my belly and won't let anyone but my significant other touch me and even then she's very observant and cautious

I would say the first or second day I found out probably sooner cause she was very cuddley and would never leave my side

I think somewhere around 28weeks our4yo Wheaten figured something is up. Also have a 9mo old Wheaten who is too much of a baby himself to notice. Our cat knew before I took a test.

My pup notice after 6 months she would always stay near me follow me around and place her head on my belly when my son would kick and it would make him clam down and now where ever he is she wants to be and she lays in my room near my son so she can be near him they are best friends now that he is born
