I have it along with a hernia from being pregnant with twins. I have an appointment to get a tummy tuck which I got lucky because it’s being covered by my insurance. I get so much back and pelvic pain, it seems that each day it gets worse.

How do you prevent this from happening or is it just one of those things?

Ok thank you xx
You can wear a quality support band around your belly while pregnant to try to prevent. But it doesn't always mean ypu won't get it. Its not just pregnant women its also ppl that are over weight. Men and women. Women are just more prone to it since we have babies and expand our bellies
I knew all about diastasis recti during my pregnancy. It is common and most women get it to an extent. It’s important to think about it while we move. You want to make sure that there isn’t any abdominal coning, while you exert yourself. Avoid sit ups, engage transverse abdominals, exhale while exerting yourself, etc. You should be able to know the extent of your DR by how far you can press your fingers into the midline of your abdomen.
Kettlebell workout will make them strong again.. i have been working with a Kettlebell for about 6 weeks now. And I can hold my blader. And also my stomach is stronger..
I think they say if you can fit three finger tips between the muscles it qualifies for this condition.
I just learned about this too...after my 3rd baby...no one warned us 😕

Yes I'm the one who brought it up and she was like...its not life threatening its normal.... I was like....ummmm excuse me lady I don't want a permanent mom pooch if I can avoid it. Just because it can't kill you doesn't me I want it!!! I had to go to physical therapy for it. There's nothing an obgyn can do for you other than tell you if u have it. PHYSICAL THERAPY IS needed to educate yourself and pelvic floor recovery. Our obdomen and pelvic floor and exercises matter. Or if physical therapy is too expensive research and again educate yourself. We cannot rely in doctors
They don’t tell you about this NOR do they tell you about spinal headaches. I had both... 😒

There are ways to test your own self after delivery just Google how to test my stomach for diatisis recti. If you're currently pregnant you'll have to have your doctor check you.
