Have any of you had an anterior placenta?

I had one with my last little boy but I had felt him move at this point. (I must add he was huge though, 9lb 6oz at birth) I’m nearly 20 weeks and still no movement 😒 I had a private scan at 15 weeks and they told me I had an anterior placenta again. How long did it take to feel baby move for everyone els? I don’t even feel pregnant yet it’s SO disheartening 🥺 all my other baby’s were so active!! ❤️

I have an anterior placenta too and it’s my first pregnancy. I am 28 weeks only just feeling the baby move but not all the time only now and again. I must admit it is worrying at times xx

I had an anterior placenta too. I felt him moving around 19/20 weeks x

Avatar

I have an anterior placenta, I was really worried about this as well. I’m 21+2 today and for the last week have felt kicks x

Avatar

I’m 27 weeks and I first felt baby move at 20 weeks. I have an anterior placenta and some days it can seem like baby is quiet may be due to the way baby is lying some days can be really active

Avatar

I’m 21+2 and have an anterior placenta too, I have felt the baby move more and more over the last few days, before that I couldn’t tell if it was wind or movement. Although saying that in all my scan’s (I’ve had many private ones) she has always been super active and lying right against the placenta

Avatar

i have an anterior placenta im currently 34 weeks and feel lots of movememt but didnt first feel any until around 25 weeks with butterfly feelings

Avatar

I have the same and I’m 22 weeks today and have only just started feeling movement! Xx

Avatar

I’m 27 weeks now and feel him moving around every day. I didn’t feel him at all until 22 weeks though ❤️

Avatar

I have an anterior placenta and started feeling movement around 18 weeks. FTM here.

Avatar

I’m the same, I started to feel slightly in 24 weeks nothing very noticeable. However at about 28 weeks started to have more prominent movement. Now at 34 weeks, very noticeable. Mainly when I have ate or a drink of water. However does cause some feelings of anxiousness .

Hi Lauren! My son is now 2 and I had an anterior placenta as well! It definitely took a while for me to feel him. I think I was 22 weeks. I remember googling it because I felt badly that I didn't feel him. As long as you've seen your doctor and they say your sweet boy is ok i would definitely try not to worry. He just is resting on that nice pillow u provided haha

I’m 21 weeks with an anterior placenta. I felt baby move (the butterflies) the day before my 20 week scan! Now all I feel is her kicking! She quite fancies my ovaries at the minute 🙄🥰 And I only started to feel pregnant about 2 weeks ago 😂

Avatar

I’m 17+6, first time mum and I have an anterior placenta too. I thought I felt her a couple of days ago but I can’t be sure! I can’t wait to feel her wriggling around

Avatar

FTM here, I have an anterior placenta and felt “flutters” at around 17wks but didn’t feel much more til about 22wks. 26wks now and I’m feeling kicks and what must be somersaults going on in there! Very active Bub. My partner still hasn’t been able to feel anything from the outside though.

Avatar

I’m a FTM due a boy in January and have an AP. I am 23 weeks started feeling light kicks around 21 weeks but don’t feel them every day, can’t wait to start feeling stronger kicks and for there to be a pattern 💙

Avatar

I have a high anterior placenta. And only felt baby move properly in week 21 ish. 23+5 now and now feel him move about 7-8 times a day. Hope this helps! 💖

Avatar

I didn’t feel her move until 22 + 5

Avatar

22 or 23 weeks! Made me nervous! Won’t stop moving now and I can hardly sleep 😂😂

Avatar

I had this with my daughter and purchased a heartbeat monitor from Amazon. It helped ease my anxiety a lot. I did not know how to use it properly at first so I was unknowingly listening to my heartbeat! 🤣Once she got a little bigger, I was able to catch her heartbeat on the monitor.

Avatar

Yep mines anterior it took til about 19 weeks, I’m now 22 weeks and feel my baby boy kicking like crazy! Last nite my man finally felt something, don’t worry mama it takes longer with anterior, I’ve heard even up to like 24 weeks to feel kicks

Avatar

I have one and didn't feel any definate movement until atleast 26 weeks xx

Avatar

I did with my baby

Avatar

23 weeks

Avatar

Same for me Lauren, I felt baby move late compared to other women wasn’t until like 24/5 weeks xx

Avatar

I had an anterior placenta too. My medical team told me to start kick counts at 22 weeks so that they’d be stronger and they were right. Of course, my daughter was really high and most of them that I could feel were in my rib cage because she was breech for so long. If it’s really concerning to you I would buy a Doppler 😊

Avatar

I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel real moment until 21 weeks! From then on, this little boy was a power puncher! Thought he was doing karate in there! You'll feel it soon enough. If it helps at all, I was feeling little sharp like pokes prior to 21 weeks and it wound up being Luciano moving. I didn't have anything to compare to so I didn't know what I was feeling 💙

Avatar

I have an anterior placenta and I didn’t feel any real movement until week 24 and even up til now week 38+3 (due to be induced on Friday) I would say I feel movement but not as much as some of my friends who have had lots of movements and kicking. It’s my first baby so I have found it hard- but I have always just phoned my midwife when I was feeling anxious about it and they always brought me in and listened to heart beat.

Avatar

Yes I did, I didn’t feel bub move until 21 weeks.

Avatar

About 25 weeks i felt proper movements with anterior placenta x

Avatar

I’m the same with previous pregnancy and this one, only just started feeling proper movements at 20/21 wks. I know what you mean, it’s so much more reassuring when you can feel them moving around. It won’t be long!

Avatar

I have an anterior placenta too, I’m 27 weeks and felt my baby move around 20/21 weeks but I don’t feel him move as often as I like.

Avatar

I’m 26 weeks and feel her move most days, not loads though and probably started to feel that like bubble sensation around 21 weeks. It’s totally normal with anterior placenta for us to not feel as much as soon x

Avatar

I have the same placenta I’ve noticed my baby movements feel strong like little thuds sometimes she’s really active at night and this afternoon she was proper moving about x

Avatar

I'm 37 weeks with an anterior placenta and I've only just felt her moving properly within the last 2 weeks!! I'm in MAC nearly every week for what I feel are reduded movements but every time she has been fine thank goodness.

Avatar

I didn’t feel much until 24 weeks x

Avatar

I have an anterior placenta. The first little movements I felt were at 18 weeks but it’s so dull and infrequent. I would say it got noticeable at week 22. I’m at week 25 and this baby kicks harder to the point where my belly actually moves from the outside.

Avatar

I didn’t feel anything until 23 weeks

Avatar

Hey! I felt some movement at 15 weeks, but not intense or recognizable until around 19 weeks. And now I can always feel her kicking, to the point where it’s painful. Lol.

Avatar

I didn’t really feel solid movements until I was 24 weeks! I wouldn’t worry if I were you! You probably just have a beautiful and large placenta which is feeding your baby and making them grow healthy and strong like your first baby!

Avatar

I wouldn't worry, I also have an anterior placenta. I felt nothing but gas bubbles till 24/25 weeks. I'm 32 weeks now and she's a lively little lunatic 😜 opts to do a Michael flatly in my ribs at 2am every morning xx

Avatar

When do you think it’s time for us mums to be with anterior placentas to get worried about the movements, I’m 27 weeks and felt slightly less movements over the past couple of days.

Avatar

I didn’t feel anything until about 22-23 weeks and not consistently until 26-27 weeks. And throughout I felt very subtle movements, nothing like what they describe others feeling, never strong enough to bother me or keep me awake but he was a perfectly healthy baby!

Avatar

24-25 weeks.

Avatar

I found out at my 12 week scan that I have an anterior placenta. I know it’s normal but I’m kind of gutting because I wanted to really experience big kicks and big movements x

Avatar

I didn't feel anything until 21 or 22 weeks!

Avatar

I didn’t feel movement until about 22 weeks but it was so minimal. Just started to have major movement around 30 weeks...

Avatar

I didn’t feel anything until 23 weeks! It’ll happen soon!🤍

Avatar

Girls!!!!! I felt him!!!! I even got him on camera 🥰🥰 words can’t describe how happy I am right now. Thanks so much for everyone’s comments 💙🤟🏻

Avatar

Hey. I felt first definite movement at 22 weeks with an anterior placenta, then daily movement from 24 😍 so glad you finally felt him move! It’s the most wonderful feeling!

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Induction experience

I just wanted to share my experience with being induced as I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it may help others.

I opted for the foley balloon which was inserted at 8am Saturday morning, I had to stay in hospital due to hypertension and protein urine however usually you can just go home once this has been done. The insertion of the balloon was not painful, was slightly uncomfortable as there was slight pressure. I actually found having the cervix checked prior to be worse (again not painful at this point just uncomfortable) The balloon had little effect and after having it removed I was still only 1cm. Removal also was pain free and hardly even noticeable.

I then had my first dose of the gel and definitely noticed a difference, I started experiencing period like cramps almost immediately however they were light and manageable. After 6 hours I had another cervix check and although my cervix was soft it was still only 1cm and was only open at the front. I had another dose of the gel and felt an increase in pressure and more intense cramping where I now required pain relief (codeine). After another 6 hours I had another cervix check and I had now dilated to 2-3cm however was still quite difficult to get all the way through so a third gel was recommended which I agreed to.

Almost immediately I noticed the difference and was in considerable pain, I had paracetamol and codeine however the contractions had now become intense and a lot closer together (around 3 minutes apart). After a couple of hours I had my last cervix check and was 4cm and taken down to the Labour ward to have my waters broken and an epidural.

I had been in my room for approx 20minutes when my waters broke by themselves and I was now 10cm and actively pushing…. There was no time for the epidural and my beautiful girl arrived into the world within 2 minutes of pushing.

All in all I would say the cramps/contractions were manageable up until the third gel where it became pretty unbearable however it was for a very short time a gas and air helped take the edge off. The worst part about any of it was actually the later cervix checks where after stimulating the cervix my contractions were at their most painful.

If I had to be induced again I would skip the balloon and opt for the gels immediately as thy had a quicker effect and I would have been out a lot sooner if I had done this to begin with.

One more thing, I’ve never believed when people say “you forget the pain once they’re here” but I can honestly say this is true. It’s been 4 days and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
