Help, I'm having difficulty breastfeeding

Just had my baby yesterday and i’m having some difficulty breastfeeding for long periods of time. He just doesn’t want to latch back on. Is mix feeding a good solution? Need advice!

Keep going it took a few days. I did supplement till my milk came in. Drink lots of water, eat fruits, Walmart sells lactation cookies, they work for me when my flow drops, and pump every 2-3 hours. It will help your milk come in and stay.

I mix fed for the first month as it took a while for my supply to be enough. We never had any problem with latch or nipple confusion. She still loves her morning booby at 20months. Your hospital will have lactation consultants available you should definitely ask them.

Do you happen to have any idea how much your supply was at first? Like, we’re you pumping and barely getting anything? I was at the point I was only getting 1 ml out of both breasts after pumping and my baby was premature and so little, that she wasn’t even sucking anything out of my boob. I had to supplement formula. Eventually this supply issue became to mentally overwhelming for me and I switched to just formula, which sucks.

It is difficult at first. Whether you should mix is dependant on how important breastfeeding is to you. If it is important, be patient. If you introduce a bottle this early the risk is pretty high that he will stop breastfeeding altogether and only want the bottle. It is a lot harder to nurse and babies are lazy. Check your positions, make sure he is latching correctly, etc. And quick question, is he still acting hungry? Some babies do eat faster than others. So if he comes off, take a moment to to burp him, and then wait a bit. Give him a moment, and then if he is still acting hungry, try again.

I breast fed all 3 of my boys and babies belly is tiny right now it might only take him 10mins of sucking to get full and breast milk isn't like formula they dont need x amount of ounce to get enough nutrients your milk is a super food on it's own and its little body will tell it when it needs to suck more and even when at first its sucking for any extra time and your not producing enough let it continue to suck about 3 times of that and your body will realise it needs to let down more milk that baby wants more it's really amazing how we must learn to trust our bodies but your doing great momma keep up all the effort it's so worth it
