Need your opinion ladies....Post Partum Clothes Shopping!

I want to buy some really cute pant/ leggings for after my baby is born (due date is in 2 weeks) as a motivational tool to get healthy and pre-pregnancy size again. I’ve held off on shopping bc obviously it doesn’t make sense lol but these pants are so cute I feel like they’d make me feel good after baby is born. Do I: A) wait to buy bc it may be setting myself up for failure B) Buy them in my pre-pregnancy size or C) Buy them in the next size up from my pre-pregnancy size?

Next size! You’ll feel great in your cute, new pants and they’ll fit 😉

Not to be a "Debbie downer" , I am one year PP and just now back to pre pregnancy size. I would wait till after having the baby to go shopping 😊

I had my baby 2 months ago and haven't lost any of the 30lbs I need to loose 😣 don't rush the pre baby body goals it takes time. You will have enough to worry about trust

Wait to buy . Some ladies lose the weight fast but most take much longer, just remember it took 9 months to get to your body weight and shape.😊

I would definitely wait! Before I had kids, I had certain brands that fit me and certain ones that didn’t. Even after losing ALL of my baby weight, those jeans didn’t fit me anymore because my entire shape had changed.

Breastfeeding is the best way to lose the weight hopefully you can nurse

Yeah If you’re breastfeeding I would wait. Because I bought jeans when she was 6 weeks old and now they are too big. I lost all the weight from pregnancy just from breastfeeding by the time she was 9 months. Don’t rush it mama, give yourself time to heal!!! I know not wearing your clothes sucks I missed my clothes so much!!

Definitely wait. I was able to fit into my prepregnancy clothes a week after I gave birth but I continued to lose weight and now my pants are all too big. I’ve been trying to gain weight and muscle but because I’m breastfeeding, I’ve been losing a lot of weight. I would wait probably at least 6 weeks to see what your weight will be. I’ve been the same weight since 6 weeks and I’m currently 4 months postpartum.

I had hyperemesis gravidarum so when I finally had my baby I was like 25 pounds less when what I was before pregnancy. Which was awesome... but since I regained my appetite I gained it all back. 😭 currently working on diet and thinking about doing some yoga or some thing. But yea wait a bit! Your body fluctuates!

Thanks for all the feedback mamas! I think I will wait to buy! Sounds like there is so much variation on recovery, to avoid having clothes sitting in my closet and unworn, I’m just going to wait!

Oh that’s a great idea! Ty!

If you’re planning to breastfeed I’d say buy next size up leggings and you should get into them within a few months. I fit in my pre-preg size within a few months no effort but I def don’t enjoy wearing stuff that tight anymore. Also buy high waisted and not expensive, in case you don’t get back to that size... I’d avoid jeans until you are at goal weight... plus kids spit up on you, etc. Like garage or aerie for example.

Wait until after! Not necessarily because of the size but because your style and comfort may change.

Maybe B but depends what you're goals are and how motivated you are? I lost most of my weight (6kg) within 4 months from breastfeeding & eating relatively well, no exercise. It takes it out of you! If you're motivated and plan on breastfeeding I say go for it ;)

I bought some “bounceback leggings” from Motherhood Maternity which I’m still wearing 4 months postpartum to keep in my c-section ponch. They look like regular black leggings and they’re so comfortable. Definitely worth the 💰

My bff mentioned the same so definitely going to try that route first

I would say wait. That is what I have done as you will be more motivated to lose the weight if you have nothing to wear.

So true!

I regretted not having something that didn't make me look pregnant during those first 6 weeks or so. I had to brave leaving the house in pajama pants to go find some high waisted leggings and loose shirts that i could be somewhat presentable in public for! Buy a few pieces now that you'll feel comfy in at home & a few "out of the house" things, but not much. Your body will be changing size until at least 3mo pp. Buy 1 to 2 sizes up from pre baby and once you know you're able to start trying to get your body back, do the shopping then!

Wait!!! NEVER by at your pre pregnancy size! You’ll just get depressed and there’s no point in doing that to yourself! Don’t put pressure on yourself to be perfect before you’ve figured out your body is going to change. Give yourself a break!

I would definitely wait. Your body shape could change too. I actually had to weigh 15 lbs less than my pre baby weight to fit in my pre baby pants.

I’m lower than I was prepregnancy now a year later but I didn’t lose all the weight for around 5-6 months after baby was born...I say do what makes you happy!

I always wait a few weeks postpartum and go buy a few things that fit. I can’t stand hanging around in ill fitting clothes for that long. I like feeling put together.

Target has some post-partum jeans that were great for helping me feel human the first few weeks after my 👶. Your hips may get wider regardless of weight you lose, so don't stress yourself out!

Postpartum shopping is depressing at least for me. I have a 3 month old daughter and I dislike shopping now. Because your shape is different and nothing seems to fit right. I try to stay away from leggings because you truly won't know what you need to wear to look good. Shopping slowly will help you find the right clothing for the new you.

I’d buy leggings and cute button up shirts (if you plan to breastfeed) i bought homma leggings on amazon and they make me feel great! I bought them in my pre-pregnancy size and they fit as expected...maybe a little snug but i like that it sucked everything in lol. Worst case if you buy something and it doesn’t work Out just return it.
