How do you get your milk to increase?

My girl is a week old today and she seems like she’s still hungry after eating 3 oz but that’s all I can get pumping both sides

I would pump every two hours and drink lots of water with a healthy diet.

I would also supplement with formula if you have to.

Does she latch on? It’ll take a will to build it. It’s always best to latch baby on breast first. And try to offer both breast if she still seems hungry after the first breast. Pumping should be after. It took me a while to build up milk. But just be patient. I was able to EBF all the way to 18 months. And he was a chunker. After pumping I was only about to get 1-2 oz total from both breast at first. But as weeks went by i noticed an increase.

I have been told drinking Body Armor helps.

I found changing my diet helped a LOT, When I ate more starchy, protein rich, grain filled foods my supply bounced back. Example, a hearty dinner with sweet potatoes, potein. Oatmeal everyday, smoothies everyday and I ALWAYS had a big water bottle with me everywhere to hydrate. Also I know it sounds crazy 😜 But SLEEP is so important for developing breastmilk. So IF you’re able to pass out with baby early or sneak in a nap when they do it could help. That’s just what worked for me. Good luck mama you’re doing a great job !

They have lactation supplements, cookies etc to help

Baby’s that young only need a few teaspoons of milf due to their tiny tummy’s. I’m sure she’s getting what she needs

I agree with Carlisa! It’s good to read up on it before you worry. Baby gets what they need because breast and baby communicate in a sense.

I agree as well. From the picture it looks like you’re still pumping colostrum which is normal to not have much of. Chances are your milk hasn’t come in yet, my milk didn’t come in til 2 weeks pp.

Try power pumping. Also drinking too much water can hurt your supply as your electrolytes are off. Thats why the armor drinks help

Your baby is only a week old, her tummy is hardly the size of a walnut. What you’re producing is transitional milk, a mixture of colostrum and milk which is very nutrient dense. Your baby should be fine with that liquid gold you’re making ❤️

You should visit with a postnatal nutritionist. You’re probably not drinking enough water or eating enough or the right foods and supplements.

Sounds like more than plenty. Plus she’s probably cluster feeding which is completely normal. Any reason why you don’t latch baby on, no judgement? https://kellymom.com/parenting/parenting-faq/fussy-evening/ https://kellymom.com/hot-topics/growth-spurts/ Come and join the LC supported supported breastfeeding group here too ☺️ https://peanut.app.link/7lNOtHijT8

I try getting her to latch every time before I feed her a bottle for some reason she just doesn’t like the nipple I’m hoping by making her atleast try every time that she will eventually just drink off the breast

I breastfed until my girl was almost 2. Oatmeal, lactation cookies/pills, fennel seed, pumping on a schedule. If you feel so inclined - meditate about it. The mind is a powerful thing ✨ Wishing you the best, sending you love and positivity

I just realized she is a week old. That’s a great amount! Keep it up and use the extra help if you need to later or at some point

Oatmeal, Gatorade, Body Armor drinks, coconut water. I also used Mother’s Milk lactation tea and Milkmakers cookies when I was trying to boost my supply, but use with caution. It has caused other mom’s supplies to actually lower. I also have a ton of skin to skin and she cluster feeds during growth spurts.

Great advice from all the lovely ladies. You are doing great already. But also make sure to relax. Stress does cause the supply to go down. Also sometimes babies go through growth spurts when they tend to feed a lot. My son would feed every hour and I was EBF. Google growth spurt ages, so you are prepared. Babies have a lot of them in the first 6 months. Good luck!

After I drink liquid IV I feel full

1 week old - you are doing so well!! Their tummies are tiny atm. So try not to over think it. I focused so much on how much I was expressing and it just stresses you out. If you were breastfeeding you’d never know how much. Make sure you eat and drink loads... I mean loads. My midwife once said a snack isn’t an apple it’s a sandwich.

Completely agree with everything that you said in the very beginning their tummies are very small and you're doing a great job don't stress it. I just have to add in the very beginning I would have like two sandwiches and Apple maybe an hour later not even another snack lol so just continuously eat because remember your body is taking all of your nutritions and giving it to your baby

Babies latching on directly to the breast results in the production of more milk than pumping will. Feeding her directly from the breast as often as possibly and being skin to skin with her as often as possible will result in a better supply. In turn, you will be able to express more milk through pumping.

I try direct breast first before I give her pumped milk so far I haven’t had any luck getting her to latch I still try every feeding she just hasn’t latched but one time that was when she was born she was latched for an hour

Additionally, she can be overeating from a bottle, but not at the breast. Don’t every worry about nursing “too much”. It will feel soooo constant when they are little, but this is building a supply, hydrating, feeding, comforting and protecting them with antibodies 💪🏼

Oatmeal, oat milk, water, body armor, coconut water (make sure it’s 100% coconut water a lot of them are actually 100% juice)

This is normal output. Make sure you are pace feeding baby. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids and eating plenty as well to maintain your supply

Fenugreek and pump after you nurse. Good luck girl!

Fenugreek can cause an adverse reaction. I had a friend whose milk dried up completely so just be careful ❤️

Yes please be careful using Fenugreek. I took it and it decrease my milk supply and then made me completely dry up :/

Feed on demand no matter what. Even if he seems hungry after 30 min. I just waited it out. I had to give him SOME formula in the beginning to make sure he was full and after a month, my supply was up enough

oats and boobie bikkies work

A couple things that help me is eating oatmeal with chai seeds and walnuts. The thing that has helped me the most is drinking body armor drinks. Body armor always seems to keep my supply up I highly recommend not drinking the full bottle unless your supplies really low or you will probably start leaking usually leave a bottle of body armor in the fridge and take a few sips off of it here and there and then always make sure that you are drinking enough water. I was an overproducer, i used to donate to the Florida breast milk Bank. I actually stop pumping just to regulate my milk supply more because I had so much over and overflow.

You could ask your dr about going on domperidone to see if it helps

Drink heaps of water and eat regularly.

I bought some Lactation cookies from Amazon. They really help and they are super yummy also!

Anzac cookies!!

Hi there My baby is 7 months old today so I am weaning her alongside milk feeds. I have exclusively pumped my milk for her and it’s been a real challenge. I always thought omg how will I make more milk when she wants more. But your body just kind of knows. So u will keep producing more. Things that helped me was- drinking about 3 litres of water per day, having a hot shower before pumping, eating plenty and even sugary treats would help too! Xx

Put her on more frequently. That will tell your body you need to produce more. I also would have 1 Guinness/ day there is something in the beer that increases production. If that is not your thing I at these lactation cookies that were called chubby Baby. They were really good and helped a lot.

When I was breastfeeding I drank loads of water double cream condensed milk and ate regular meals and had snacks and it really helped my first is now 15 she was born at 7lb14oz they told me she would lose weight in first week and instead she went up to 8lb 14 Oz and carried on like that till 5 weeks

Y not try topping her up with formula i have don't that with all of mine and it seemed to help x

My supply has been everywhere but I see that I get more when I eat eat meal and drinking a lot of water. I try to chug some when I pump which I hear helps

Google lactation cookies recipes! Anytime I ate these, I definitely produced more milk.

They’re usually oatmeal and chocolate chip. I would make mine with raisins because I have an allergy with chocolate.

Body armor juice

I second this! Body armor sports drinks for sure!!

Make sure you eat and drink a lot of water. Even eat snacks throughout the day. Mothers milk tea worked for me. To develop my supply, I exclusively breastfed so my body knew how much milk my baby needed. Even if its every hour. It was hard in the beginning because i would try to pump after feeding but not produce enough. I started producing more when baby fed more. Doctor told me its because breast pumps are only able to pump out 70% of your supply cause it doesnt suckle like the babies do. my baby is 10 months old now. Hes healthy, eats solids and still drinks breast milk. Hope this helps! Good luck mama

Reduce your stress, pump/feed more frequently, stay hydrated. ❤️

Someone once told me to try Oreos and it’s worked for me. Anytime I haven’t been making a lot of milk I drink a bottle of water and eat a few Oreos and then I’m pretty engorged.

Are you feeding EBM only or breastfeeding? Babies cluster feed to build your supply. The more you nurse the better supply. Can do lactation tea, cookies, Swisse breastfeed support supplement. See a LC if low supply can try motillum.

Try joing a group called Expressions! Lactation Services on Facebook! Nursed my son for 2.5 years successfully 🥰

Keep at it mama you’re doing great! All of the above and I found that Oat of this World ice cream from Ben and Jerries also temporary boosted my supply

Milkymama worked for me.

Hey mama pump every 2 hours and try YouTube for eating supplements ideas or Amazon

Your milk flow will increase naturally. Drinking plenty of water and eating oats and fenugreek can help too. They say it's not until 12 weeks roughly will you know your average milk production.

Oatmeal, fenugreek & moringa

Avoid cabbage reduces supply. Increase water intake and calories. Feed every 2 hours, pump after feeds.

Fenugreek!! It’s a natural supplement that increases milk production, and will make it smell & taste like maple syrup, and your babies poop smell like pancakes 😂 not even joking! I like to give a bottle of it to all my expecting mama friends in their baby shower gift. I also am usually the only one thag gifts mama the things SHE needs for taking care of herself after having a baby 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wow that’s a lot compared to me! Don’t stress I’ve been successfully breastfeeding for 7 months and I never get so much milk pumping 🤣 But I do find it’s better to pump in the a.m. and after drinking lots of water so try that. There are also foods that help with milk production such as fennel and oats. Good luck 🥰

Also your milk has only been in for a few days and your body will make what it needs to make. Your precious baby girl only has a tiny tummy so she wouldn’t need you to be making too much anyway. Don’t stress mama you’re doing great 👍🏽

Water, pumping every 2 hours, fenugreek, and oats

One more thing sorry! They go through phases of cluster feeding where it will seem like they are never satisfied. It’s normal, don’t stress just feed her on demand. She’s helping your body make a plentiful supply because your body produces in a supply and demand basis. It is exhausting but try to just enjoy the time on the couch with all the snacks 😊 you’re doing such a great job!!!! It gets easier! The first 8 weeks are the hardest xxx
