Sleeping with arms up

Hey everyone! Not sure if anyone else experienced this with their baby but for whatever reason my daughter sleeps with her arms sticking straight up into the air. She's been doing this since she was born (she's only 2 months) and I'm not particularly concerned about it but was wondering if this is normal or if there's any reasoning behind it that anyone knows of?

So adorable! My little one used to wave one arm around when she slept, but would often hit herself in the face and wake up 🙄🤭 don't think it's too unusual but it is very sweet 😍

My daughter is 1 and still does this sometimes. No idea why but it’s cute lol

My SiL told me that a lot of new babies do this as the elevation helps with their heart rate, so it helps them sooth and sleep better. She was having issues with sleeping and was told to try and sleep with her arms above her head slightly elevated and she said it works. ((((I have no idea if this is true but it’s interesting!))))

She’s just vibing 🙌🏼😆😍

My son did this - a midwife told me it’s completely normal. He’s almost six months and has grown out of it now.

My LG does this!!

I have no advice. Just wanted to say she’s beautiful!

Thats exactly what I've been saying! 😂

😂😂 my daughter did this too when she was super little. Always made us laugh

My son used to do that when he got startled. He’s throw his hands up, go back to sleep and then they’d only drift slightly back down

The startle reflex.

Same thing with my guy, he would startle and then he wouldn’t wake up but his hands would stay raised up lol!

Oh my gosh, so cute! 🥰

Mine does this too sometimes! X

I think it has something to do with their startle reflex

I love these pics! She is adorable but it makes me laugh when babies preach 🙌🏾 😹

Omg... these pictures are the cutest things everrrr!!! 😍

That’s the sweetest pic I saw today 😍

As others have said ,its the startle reflex. Does your baby sleep well? If not, consider swaddling. The startle reflex eakes them up but swaddling, although it feels mean, does wonders to keep them sleeping and you rested!! We were so pleased once we realised the benefits and did this with our first! We are doing the this with our 2nd much earlier!

Lol that’s so funny! I have no advice since I’ve never seen it but I bet it’s fine. And I also want to share A picture of my daughter when she was a baby, sleeping funny.

It’s Normal, my little boy used to do it when he was a newborn and he stopped doing it as soon got older.
