Sleepy teething baby?

My 7 month old, almost 8 months, is getting her bottom teeth in..all four I believe! She has been sleeping way more than normal, like a 3 hour nap and 12 hours at night. Is this normal? Anybody else’s baby really sleepy when teething? I know a lot of babies sleep less when teething so I’ve very grateful she is sleeping. Just want know if anyone else is/was in the same boat!

Lucky! My son is almost 9 months old, just had his 5th tooth cut, the 6th is on its way, and we’re in a sleep regression.

Oh no! I hope it doesn’t last too long for you. I have a feeling this won’t last, we’re about to start another leap🙈

We just got out of a leap, and we are finishing a move, so I’m hoping this is just part of his transition into a new place.

It’s just probably a growth spurt. Baby’s tend to sleep more and eat more when they’re going through them. They’ll go through periods of not wanting to nap or sleeping less to sleeping almost all day and eating more. It’s absolutely normal. 😊 And as for teething well if she seems to be in pain give her a cold teething ring. Put some teething gel on the gums or if it’s bad give her the amount of Tylenol your pediatrician recommend. Some times the teething barely bothers them and some days it’s bad. My boy had his good and bad days. P.S: Make sure the teething gel doesn’t have clove oil or benzocaine (it causes methemoglobinemia and it’s dangerous)

Thank you for your advice! So far she hasn’t been too bad with teething, so surprised! We’ve only used little remedies pain relief twice. She chews on everything! I will keep that in mind about the teething gel, we have not used or bought any. Thank you!

My little one cut his 1st tooth at 3.5 months and 2nd one is just about to cut through. Although the sleepiness could be growth spurt related, my guy sleeps ALOT when teething!

Earlier teether! I didn’t think about the growth spurt part, that could definitely be it! She’s a great sleeper in general, so it must be the teething or growth spurt!

Yup, my son is the same way as well. He slept a lot when teething. Now when he had his bad days where it would bother him a lot I would give him Tylenol and he would keep sleeping, lol.

If you give them Tylenol or Advil they generally sleep more. Otherwise I found there was always lots of night waking from teething but there’s no one “normal” for babies so enjoy while you can haha

Funny enough only when teething he did sleep more when I gave him Tylenol. Otherwise he was everywhere. 😅 But like you said there is no normal with babies.😂

Yes!! Teething for us correlated with a growth spurt often too

When the all natural jell I got didn’t work I rubbed a lil bit of Jack Daniels on his gums n he stopped fussing!!

Oh my goodness! Our little one has her bottom 2 already and we think the top 2 are coming through because she’s been sleeping less 😩 Maybe your little one is having a growth spurt too.

My baby sleeps a lot as well but I give him Tylenol

Basically anything out of the ordinary while teething is normal 😂 enjoy it!

All babies are different but it’s probably a growth spurt!!

My LG will sleep more when she's had a couple of unsettled nights, next few days she'll have more naps and sleep longer at night. She's catching up on missed sleep.

We are having the opposite problem bottom teeth coming in up all night and less naps

Honestly when they’re teething, all predictability goes out the window- sleep is different, eating is different, even their BM’s change! Our kid wouldn’t eat or sleep while teething, but suddenly those otter s changed to growth spurt patterns, more sleep and ate like a grown man- all within the same week!

Haha our littlest gal is total opposite. I would say enjoy. They are all so different! My eldest child was unaffected and my youngest really struggles

My little one is 10 months old in 18 month old looks so teething does happen with growth spurts a lot of the time he slept through his a lot getting his third fourth teeth not so much with his first and second or his 5th or 6th

Thieves essential oils worked great for my daughters. Rub it on the gum and nurse right after because it will sting a little, but it numbs right away.

My 6 month old premie shouldn’t be teething this early since her age isn’t corrected but she is and sleeps so much and gets so angry if she doesn’t have her frozen teething ring. You aren’t alone!

All babies up until the age of 3 should be sleeping up to 14 hrs in total. 12 at night and 1to 3 hrs in naps. My son sleeps almost a full 14 everyday. So that completely normal and good for them actually. Just make sure when ur little one is awake they are getting all that energy out! :)

Ive done my fair share of research, i could look and send u some info if you like i didn’t save anything since it was just for my personal knowledge. Up to 3 year its recommended up to 14 hrs of sleep. Obviously not all kids will sleep 14 hrs. But because i strived to make sure my son was getting the full potential sleep. I do notice he is much more sharper then 80% of kids (boys) his age. He learns a lot of things a lot faster because his body and brain are well rested. I assure you it’s possible only because he sleeps at 8pm every night and wakes up at 7 to 8 am every morning. Yes he’s younger so he does occasionally crys im the night some times but most nights he sleep well. And what ever he doesn’t get in the night he makes up for with his nap time. With only 1 nap at 12pm . But again all kids are different and everyone has their own way..

Who informed you it’s 14 hours total? The pediatrician told me only 8 at night

Yes, I’ve got 10 month old twins and they sleep a ton when they’re growing or teething. Usually they sleep 12 hrs at night and then about an hour nap in the day but during a growth spurt or in the days leading up to a tooth breaking through they’ll sleep 12 hrs at night and 2-3 hrs in the day.

My little one I started sleeping about 8 9 hours at night maybe 10 on a good night island of two to three hour nap during the day

My son slept quite a bit more during teething which is super normal, plus it's possible your little could be hitting the growth spurt early! Enjoy it while you can momma!

My 6 month old currently seems to be nursing less and sleeping more (at least for the past 2 days or so) and I’ve been curious why. After some research I’m guessing either teething or a growth spurt. Just kind of stresses me out a little because I don’t want it to effect my milk supply. I know all will be well! I have just been pumping while he naps to make myself feel better 😬

My 6 month old is waking up every 3 hours. Iam extremely burned out. Why is he doing this ? I want to say that teething but Iam not sure.. please advice

Could be teething or a sleep regression maybe? Most things pass in a week or two, at least they did with my babies so far. Is he having a good feeding before bed?

He Just woke up n I had to give him milk. Let’s see when will he wake up again but this is not his norm and I don’t see any teeth coming. Of course during the day he is drooling and rubbing on his ear. Before bed at 9 he gets a bottle with milk n cereal in it. What Can i do
