Informing the Peanuts

My question how did y’all go about informing your Peanuts that they were going to be a big brother or sister? My peanut is going to be 18 months when his little brother or sister arrives so I am hoping to find a none traumatizing way to inform him. Thank you in advance. 😊

We included our oldest in everything when it came to my middle, he came to appts, picked baby clothes, helped prepare the room, and we prepared both my boys for their sister by letting them be involved with everything as well. My oldest loved helping with the hospital bag and my middle son was only 11 months when she was born so we just told him baby and pointed to my belly.

I've taken courses in child development and work with kids... At 18 months they won't be able to comprehend it and it's recommended just to work on it right before. Kids have trouble seeing outside one's present world at that age. Once your belly starts getting big and they kick, explain there is a baby in there. Also showing her babies in public and getting her a baby doll to play with softly would be good. Right before you are due is when you can start more explaining it and tell her she will need to help look after baby. Including them in the roll and responsibility also is suppose to reduce jealousy. Try and not mess up her routine too much once the baby comes too which can be easier said then done though..

My son was 14 months when his sister was born so we just let him process it as it all happened. He will be 3.5 and his sister 2.5 (about) when their new brother or sister arrives and even though we’ve told them they seem uninterested 😂

My daughter was standing right next to me when I took the pregnancy test (NO privacy with a 3yo 😂), so she found out from the source!
