Help - can't get my 2 year old to sleep in her room.

Hey ladies, anyone have any tips on how to get your 2 year old to sleep through the night in her bedroom? She's constantly waking up multiple times a night crying and wanting to come in our bed. I recently given birth to my second daughter who's sleeping in our room so it's been a big issue when my 2 year comes crying in the room. My husband has been trying to do some sleep training with her but the problem with that is when she cries so much, she ends up throwing up. Always have done that from the beginning. Anyone of your kids do that? My newborn sleeps better than her and she should be the one giving me no sleep 😂 Please help?

I also have a newborn (well, 3 months old now) and moved him into a cot in our room about a month ago. I moved my 2 year old out of the cot to make room for him and into a king single bed. She has slept through the night ever since and she had been coming into our bed like your daughter. I was so surprised by this, I thought there was no way she would stay in the bed but we’ve been pleasantly surprised. Good luck, hope you manage to get some sleep soon!

So I ended up moving a crib mattress next to my bed so he's sleeping next to us. He won't cry anymore but still wakes up at least once occasionally. Our, was no will be 1 and sleeps through the night.

Put a baby gate on the door and let them settle themselves.

2 is generally not an appropriate age to sleep train and make any dramatic changes to habits and routines as this is when they developmentally start experiencing fears, anxieties and nightmares. It's so hard for them to articulate what's happening and how they're feeling at this age so seeking contact and reassurance from mum and dad is their natural response. Having just welcomed a baby sister would've been a huge change too which often results in the older sibling regress a bit. I would honestly just make sure she feels safe and loved for now. If you don't want her coming into your room (and if this is a new thing), perhaps daddy can go with her to her room until she's back asleep for a while?
