Heatwave activities

My baby is almost 4 months old, and I naively thought I could take him out early in the morning for a quick stroll, but it was already 27° at 9 am. We played in the sink for a bit and then the usual tummy time, books, gym, and looking outside. I have a small patio that is shaded, but it feels too hot. I took him out for an early walk yesterday at around 9 am, and he was quite warm in the pram.
My husband will be back to work tomorrow.

What are people doing to keep babies entertained?

First holiday as a family

For our first holiday (we’re just booking a UK lodge holiday as we want to take our dog), would you recommend 7 nights or 4? I keep reading mixed opinions as apparently a week lets you properly switch off more but then I’ve also read it might be better to start with a short holiday so it’s not a week out of the routine.

Our son is 15 months old and we both work full time and feel like we need to switch off from work and constant housework at home.

Do your kids answer tv show prompts?

Neither of my kids have ever responded to Miss Rachel’s “can you say mama?” Or Mickey’s “let’s count these coins” it makes kid shows less entertaining for me lol

Movie ideas please for my 4 year old

If you’re firmly against screen time this is not the poll for you

My son recently has gotten into movies typically older ones with longer story arcs not super over stimulating. He likes the lion king, the lion king 2, Peter Pan, aristocrats, and the fox and the hound 2.

He likes things with animals and things with music. Looking for recommendations :)

Are toddler towers safe? Does your toddlers like it?

Asking because there's like no research on them! Only Consumer Reports

Baby activity

What do you do with a baby in this heat? Don’t want to sit at home but it’s hot out so can’t exactly just sit outside 😩

Anything that helps a baby that HATES being in the car😅

My LO hates being in the car, he literally screams and cries the entire time! When we have to drive anywhere that’s an hour or so we have to stop quite a few times but he’s hysterical😫 I’ve tried giving him a teether toy, car toys that light up and play songs and things for him to play with, my 3 year old will have a cartoon on the ipad but it doesn’t work.. anything else anyone can advise would be great as we are driving 3 hours to Exmouth beginning of July 😅😵‍💫

Kids!

How do y’all keep multiple kids entertained and not extremely bored and getting into stuff all day?

Spiritual practice

Anyone else find everything to try meditate or go into an intentional spiritual practice is when your kid bursts in and goes 'I want this' and you have to break focus. I can never fully relax into my practice when he's at home with me because at any moment I could be interrupted.

9month old entertainment

Hey girlies 🤍

My 9-month-old has recently started crawling and I swear I need eyes in the back of my head now more then ever 😂

Just wondering how everyone is keeping their little ones entertained at this age? She loses interest in toys so quickly, but household items seem to keep her entertained for ages 😅

Would love to hear any activities, toy recommendations, or little things your babies enjoy doing. Thank you so much 🫶

Outdoor playpen

My little girl will be 11months old soon she is in the pulling on everything to stand and cruising atm. She gets bored on her living room play mat quickly and loves outdoor and watching birds, etc.... I'm thinking to make a safe space for her and let her spend time outside in our little garden. We hold her and take her there but she wants to stand and cruise on the outdoor furniture but she still fall over so not safe. Does anyone have an idea to create a safe space outdoor for this age. Outdoor fun playpen?

Thank you😊

Nursery screentime

My 2.5 year old goes to a Grandir group nursery. This is a new setting since Jan as we moved areas. He came home onw day obsessed with the wiggle song by danny go and new all the moves. I assumed they taught this at nursery and then i find out they showed the YouTube video and do this for dancing. I assumed nurseries are screen free and i would expect a nursery setting to be. I’m not against screens at home but i try to limit it and i certainly would not want anythinf to be shown in an educational day care setting. Has anyone experienced this and how did you tackle it? I find it v disappointing the staff are relying on YouTube for activities. Thanks!

Nursery screentime

My 2.5 year old goes to nursery, a Grandir group one which is new for him since Jan when we moved areas. He came home wanting to listen to the wiggle song by danny go and new all of the moves. I assumed he learnt this at nursery and when i showed a short clip or the video he didnt bat an eyelid. I asked his key worker and she said when they do dancing they sometimes show the youtube video. I think this is totally unacceptable. I assumed nurseries are completely screen free. I’m not paying a silly amount of money for my child to be infront of a screen with education professionals in a day care setting. They aren’t tired parents who need a break! Has anyone experienced this before and what did you do? Thank you!

Toys

What toys are you getting/giving your nearly 1 year olds? Really keen to get something that will encourage development in every area, but not something they can’t really use till 18 month+ because I can hold out till Christmas for that stuff. My son is incredibly active and very confident with it! Non stop moving
