Postpartum Workout

Hey beautiful mamas! I got the all clear from my doctor today to start working out. I’m almost 6 weeks pp. I exclusively breastfeed my daughter...I’ve heard sometimes working out can mess with your supply. So kinda nervous so any advice would be appreciated. I’m not really looking to lose weight either just tighten everything back up. Also I have baby 24/7 so workouts that can be done with baby maybe? Sry if post is all over the place sleep deprived. Lol But I’ll take any advice y’all have on workouts that won’t effect supply, tighten my body back up, and baby friendly?

Hey! I did Insanity videos when at home with babe which are intense but a great workout! Not sure about the supply issue.

Thanks! I’ll see if I can find anything on if it effects supply!

Yes, working out will alter your supply because you are burning calories and to keep a good supply your calories while breastfeeding are usually higher. However, this can be managed by increasing calories in. If you use a Beachbody program, they have a container system way of eating and if you are pregnant or nursing there you build in eating more healthy calories. The 21 day fix is where the container system originated and the workouts are 30 minutes. Not really something you do while holding baby but can definitely be done during a nap

Thank you I really appreciate all the information on workout and keeping supply

I love Body Fit by Amy! She has great postnatal workouts and reminder m regular workouts too. (And pregnancy workouts that might be good for easing back in)

If you like yoga, yoga with Adrianne does some really great videos. You can find her on YouTube.

Never tried it but I know my husband likes yoga so might...thank you

I returned to spin classes 14 weeks after having my boy & was exclusively BFing but it never impacted my supply. Look up Nancy Taylor on YouTube for PP workouts and/or workouts with baby. Hers are only about 20 mins but you will sweat!

Thank you will look her up I think shorter workouts will be my friend...lol

I do Beachbody on Demand, I started about 2 months ago and haven’t noticed a decrease in my supply. I wear a full support sports bra, it does up in the front with a zipper. It’s not too tight but holds me nicely and doesn’t feel like my boobs are suffocated.

I definitely need to get a good sports bra! Thanks

Check for diastasis recti first; ab separation is really common from pregnancy and there are videos to show you how to check for it on YouTube. If you have it, start with fixing it by using free exercises for diastasis recti on YouTube then you can start any workout program❤️
