New Mom- WAKE UP CALL

Sooo this post isn’t really for gaining advice but actually confirming that I’m not alone. Did anyone else know, prior to having a baby, how many things we’d actually go through?! I mean, people told me “you’ll never sleep again” (true) and they told me their labor and delivery stories but DAMN! What about— “she may have trouble with certain formulas” (I thought all babies ate the same) “There will be sleep regressions” (that’s a thing??) “She may cry for 2 hours straight” (for what though?) “You may not produce enough milk to breastfeed” (GREATTT) “Overtired, overstimulated” (okay, and how do I balance that??) “Wake windows” (What the hell does that even mean?) “Sleep sacks” (I put my baby in a sack?! 😂) “They May have acid reflux” (babies can have that?) “She’ll be happy one day and unable to soothe the next” (HELPPP) “Colic” (don’t know what that is and apparently neither does anyone else) “No naps one day and sleeping all day the next” (oh okay, girl) “Probiotics, gripe water” (those are things?!) I LOVE my babe so much, but again, DAMN! These poor little babes go through more than I ever thought 😅

Hahaha amen so true. My favorite was when I was pregnant ‘you’ll never remember life before baby.’ Uhh... there are days where I fully remember and LONG for a day before baby. Not that I don’t love my son but no responsibility, no mouth to feed, no poopy diapers .. sounds amazing. Haha

Agreed! I love this little face and cuddling her but momma needs a break 😅

Yeah, I miss sleeping past 8

Omg why is this so true!!! I love my little more than life itself but some sleep and quiet sounds to die for🤣

I completely agree with that. I have a 7month old and I'm still waiting to get my sleep 😂 you love them more than anything but they are such confusing little beings at times

Seriously! I knew it'd be tiring to entertain, feed, clean, etc but not THIS exhausting! Also each baby has such a different personality already. So little but have so many preferences and demands!

Your post is so hilarious! You nailed it!! Made me laugh! Thanks!

Thank you ☺️Scrolling through all of the post just made me realize how many other things can be going on with babies. I was in need of a laugh and figured everyone else did too

So true.

I’ve never called our dr as much as I have done in the 10 days my baby’s been here 😫 mega spit up and now she seems to have a cold 🤧 I’m constantly blaming myself for everything!

You are not alone! My pediatricians nurses line were probably so sick of hearing from me. My LO spit up a lot too. Hope you’re getting things figured out!

I think her cold is causing her to swallow a lot of mucous as well so she’s choking and then spitting up in ebf as well so it’s so disheartening when she’s constantly hungry

Same here, sometimes I catch myself day dreaming of when I used to have a day off from work and spend the whole day in my pjs ordering food from Uber eats and binge watching the whole day without a single care in the world 🌎 I love my son so freakin much but my god sometimes he’s more work than even the 18 hour shift I did once as a line cook 👩🏻‍🍳

Lol this made me laugh. I feel you!!!

Colic is trapped wind! Bloody awful thing for a baby to suffer from x

This made me laugh out loud and wake up my napping baby 😭 But yesss to all of it, I feel so seen!

I definitely needed it, my son decided to play with his feet and chat with the bedroom wall at 2am, and he insisted on waking me up to join him 😩 He thankfully fell back asleep right now though!

Glad you found it funny and can relate. I needed some humor and I thought others might too. So sorry you woke the babe 😢 I feel you on that.

I get so angry every time I see a birth portrayed on TV now. Oh ok, her water’s going to break and miraculously the baby’s just gonna come out with like 2 pushes an hour later. Cool, cool.

Right?! I was in labor for 20 hours and pushed for almost 5 hours before she was here 😅 Regardless, shits not easy.

No one told me I’d be waking up in puddles of milk and having major night sweats with flu like symptoms man that was a shocker 😂 Luckily I didn’t have any of that with my second

Girl yes. My son is 6mo old now. First 3 months was colic AND acid reflux, colic is gone but reflux is controlled by meds now. Currently dealing with some sleep regression, dropping a nap and teething 😭 my pediatrician gives his parents his home number and I swear he knew my number by the first month lol.

Oh wow! It’s always something with these sweet babes. What did you do for reflux??

He’s on Pepcid! I’ll never regret medicating him. He didn’t deserve the pain of going through that ❤️ it’s been the best choice for us

It’s a trap! That was the first thing I learned when I had my son. Everyone talks about this glow and how it’s awesome and people don’t talk about the hormones and feels and struggle to keep this tiny human that has been pretty safe in your body for 9 months and now in this world alive. I did see what to expect when your expecting which shows a few different versions of pregnancy but still it’s hard and I feel all of this. Oh and not to mention what you did with one kid probably won’t work on another so just when you thought you had a good thing and knew what you were doing they said f that try again.
