Sperm analysis results 😢

After over 20 months trying and a lot of battles with the GP to get referrals / diagnosis / tests I’ve recently finally had a PCOS diagnosis and today my husband has had his semen analysis back and that’s not great. (1% morphology and also not great on the number of abnormalities) Anyone have any insight into likely next steps with the low sperm results? Or likelihood of natural conception? The internet seems very mixed on research results! (Prior to this I worried it was my PCOS but I have been ovulating the past 7/8 months and my hormones are fine just have polycystic ovaries/irregular cycles/wasn’t ovulating)

Sorry to hear this 😔 My husband is going through the same thing. We have been referred for IVF. He was referred to a reproductive urologist, they put him on clomid to try to boost his counts/quality.

@M.J can I ask how long you were trying for before a referral? My GP has said it needs to be over 2 years before we can be referred for any treatment which means we’ve got to wait another 4 months 😢 Hope the Clomid helps and your IVF process goes quickly and well!! 🤞🤞

I live in the states so things are a bit different here, at the one year mark we got testing done and got referrals for a reproductive endocrinologist and urologist. Thank you, planning on starting in July. Hope it goes smoothly 🤞 It might be worth getting a second opinion or looking into going private.

My husband had 8% morphology . We got some vitamins on Amazon for morphology and sperm health . He also changed his diet by eating lots of walnuts , dark chocolate and anything we could Google that improved sperm health . There was a program On tv called save our sperm On Channel 4 ( you can watch it on catch up ) and that helped a lot . We did manage to get pregnant after only a few months on improving his health ☺️

@Ellie Heyy, what vitamins did he start to take?

@N xo I think it was the Proceive contraception Max Men contraception supplement x

@Ellie thank you!

@Ellie thank you! Will definitely watch. 8% sounds much better than 1% but I guess we can still hope - so happy for your success getting pregnant!! We are both pretty healthy and active and he’s been having tablets for a few months for sperm health etc but not religiously so think he’s going to try and be better at taking those now he knows he’s part of our struggles! (I think we both naively thought it was me cos of my PCOS etc!) ☺️ This does give me some hope that we can make improvements ourselves!!
