I don't know

You bought a car and had it for a year. The transmission has gone bad already. Still have years to pay on it. Would you get it fixed for a used one paying 3000 full within 2 weeks or would you just buy a new car?

Which one saves you money in the process

Getting a new one?

I would say a new car.

@Sarah even if I was to get a used transmission put in it will still be bad?

@Makaylla You will save money getting the transmission but hopefully it works out for the better.

So with getting that would it cause more issues with the engine?

Or would more problems occur

@Makaylla How many miles is on it????

I have 83,000 miles on there but if I get a used one I'm not sure

@Makaylla I will say if it’s paid off , I would stick to it. It would be cheaper in the long run.

Still making payments on it @Sarah

Is the cost just for the parts or is labor included??

Both he wants me to put 800 down deposit and 3000+ for the work

Transmission shop

And he wants me to come up with that in 2 weeks

Yeah at this point I would just get another car.

And I don't want to make the car payment if I can't drive it. Being at that they're going to come and repo the car.

Ive been using rentals the best I can to get back and forth but those cost too

@Makaylla Yeah the repo will only affect your credit score, that’s the only downside to it.

I'm trying to figure out what's best to do

If you were in that situation, what would you do?

I would get another car. I have been in this situation before.

I think it would cause more problems or wouldn't really fix anything if I was to get it fixed

With the tag do they turn it in themselves when taking the car or how does that work?

Like what did you have to do?

They just did everything.

So the only thing I would have to do is cancel the insurance?

@Makaylla Yes

My mom talking about calling the DMV and just report it lost or stolen.

But it's not

@Makaylla You can get in more trouble for falsifying

Yeah that didn't sound right to me so just let the tow people turn it in?

Normally I would take it up there myself but I don't have a way yet

The car company will come pick it up

If you were paying on it, trust me they are going to pick their car up. My previous car was at the shop and I told them they can pick it up from there.

Yeah that's where mines is. I just wanted to make sure if I had to turn it in or if they can do it for me. I don't want to keep paying on something I can't drive. Especially with the transmission gone bad and I only had it for a year smh

It's literally just sitting there @ the shop

I completely understand. They will pick it up.

Just make sure you take everything you need out of there

What if I have the registration in there still?

They shouldn't charge any fees being that I still have insurance on it right?

No they shouldn’t charge fees.
