Hello.First Time mom here and was curious to hear about people’s positive experiences (if any) with an epidural.

Hey! I did! Picking to have an epidural was the best decision for me. It made the end of my labour amazing as I had absolutely no pain and could push my LO one out whilst being present. I was very lucky and had no cuts or tearing. I did perineal massages which I think really helped with this. I’d defo have an epidural again. Hope this helps x

I had a positive experience with epidural. I got it at like 8-9 centimeters and only had it in for a short period of time before I gave birth. No tearing. I also didn’t have to get a catheter cause my babygirl’s head was already poking out and time to push. Which was a plus for me lol

Hello! First of all congrats! I’m a FTM too! I gave birth in January and got an epidural and only had one minor tear that only required two stitches. Honestly, my post partum healing was so much better and less painful than I thought it would be. The only bad thing that happened was my epidural did get disconnected from my back at one point, and I only knew because the pain got so bad. But they got it hooked back up right away and everything was good after that. I was up walking within a few hours of giving birth.

Hi! With my first I was induced, I didn’t tear and had the epidural which really helped! Thanks to it I had a really positive birth experience 😊

I was induced and got an epidural at 2 cm. Had a great pushing experience. No pain. Got her out in 30 mins and didn't tear or poo

I didn’t have an epidural and I had tearing. Maybe it’s consistent with induction. I was induced but didn’t get an epidural. I regret it lol

I got induced, went 15 hours without an epidural. I was dilating anymore so I got the epidural and they broke my water! The only “pain” I had was when I would lay on one side for too long long and it moved to one side. So I could feel pain and contractions on the other side until I moved or upped the dose. Didn’t feel her come out, or me tearing!

Yes!!! I promise by Primrose oil inserted vaginally starting at 37 weeks and raspberry leaf tea. I know that's why I had a short labor and didn't tear with an epidural

I had my baby in March and got the epidural at 6cm dilated, after about 10 hours of labour! It was so relieving and the pain instantly went away so I was able to rest a bit before it was time to push. However, once I got pushing I kept forgetting to up the dosage and therefore I felt my baby come out & felt my tearing (second degree), so I would recommend making sure to keep upping the dosage as you push!

I had an epidural when I was 7cm as I had been in labour around 30 hours at that point, there was no way I’d have been able to manage without it! It wasn’t something I particularly wanted before but was open to it but I have no regret’s having it, I would totally have one again. It allowed me to rest I literally couldn’t feel a thing. I had a tiny graze!

I was in early labor having horrible contractions for over 24 hours. By the time I went to the hospital and was at 4 cm I hadn't slept in 2 days and was so exhausted I got the epidural right away. No regrets because I was able to rest for the first time. After the baby comes you won't get a good night sleep so the last one before the baby comes is so important. I did tear and got 2 stitches but healing wasnt bad. I did not increase my epidural so the end of pushing was very painful but it did allow me to feel my contractions and be in tune with my body

I had a tear but I was very happy with epidural both times.

Had back labor got the epidural pushed baby out in less than 15 min no tearing the contractions were the worst part!!

Had one and the tiniest tear, never noticed it!
