Reduced movements

Baby hasnt moved much today, didn’t react when I had a full caffeine coffee and not responding to being poked but have checked heart rate on the fetal Doppler and can hear his heartbeat.. we spent the day in the sun, just worried that might of affected him or something if I’m some bit burnt? We’re due to go on a plane home tomorrow and I’m so worried now🥲

They say to try and lay on your left side for an hour to see if baby moves, if theres still not much movement id give the hospital a call, also the doppler isnt medically reliable and isnt recommended for reassurance as you could be hearing your placenta

@Roman thank you, he has moved a good bit earlier on today but very little since but will try this now. I am somewhat medically trained as I work in a hospital myself, so using the Doppler I can hear the difference in the placenta/baby’s heart. Thanks for your help 🥰

He might just be having a lazy day i know my little one has alot of those days and it makes me worry like crazy

@Roman My partner has said this! We’ve been on a Babymoon for 10 days and really been so busy. Maybe he is just tired & was more active during the night than he normally is. Hoping he might be more active later tonight or in the morning 🥰

Caffeine doesn't give them energy like it does us, it actually restricts blood flow. Also Doppler shouldn't be used for reassurance in that way as heart rate doesn't necessarily reflect that they're doing fine.

Your baby should be moving as usual without any stimulus such as food, poking etc. A strong heartbeat also doesn’t exclude that something is wrong. It’s the equivalent of us being unwell and being poked. We’ll move and have a heartbeat but it doesn’t mean we’re okay. Babies in utero also don’t get tired in the same way we do just because we’ve had a busy day. They have their own sleep patterns which they should follow until birth. You should definitely be contacting maternity triage and having this checked. It’s better to be safe than too late.

If your away on holiday there’s not much u can do I imagine till your back - if your still concerned on your return then I’d say call maternity but don’t panic, it’s easy to think the worst but your stress can affect baby.im sure you’ll always do what’s more safe than sorry but for the moment being, as your on holiday, try to relax, pay close attention to baby for the next few hours, have cold glass of water, lye down ext. just use the time to bond with your bump and you may start to notice baby’s movements. It’s so easy to have a busy day and then suddenly panic we haven’t felt them. I’m sure everything is okay, there are usually other signs if this isn’t the case but look after yourself. I hope you feel your baby moving around tonight X

Baby is moving away now non stop and have landed safely at home. Thank you xx
