In labor

Tomorrow I will be 34 weeks and I was just admitted to the hospital. They are hoping to get me to Sunday before baby boy comes so I can get two rounds of steroids. Anyone have a baby born at 34 weeks before? Will he be okay? Will he need to go to the NICU? I'm freaking out. Nothing is ready. I didn't set the carseat up, his clothes haven't been cleaned, I don't even have a pump at home because insurance doesn't let me order until 35 weeks. He was supposed to stay in longer. I just can't stop crying.

I had my baby a week ago at exactly 34 weeks! He is perfectly healthy he just needs some help so we are in the NICU. I know it’s upsetting but remember that you will have plenty of time to get things ready for your baby while he has to stay in the NICU.

Im so sorry hun. At 34 weeks your baby should be completely fine, although I dont know anything about your health or pregnancy. Usually if the baby is preterm (before 37 weeks) even at 35 or 36 weeks they take baby to the NICU but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong, they will probably double check to make sure he’s okay. If you’re getting steroids I wouldn’t be too concerned. You got this ❤️

I know it’s hard to deal with emotionally. I still cry everyday about my baby being born early so just hang in there and know this isn’t your fault and you did the best you could but your baby can’t wait to meet you!

You are one strong mama ♥️ I’m so sorry you are going through this but I’m glad the doctors are ready and watching over you! Praying you make it to Sunday or beyond!!

Omg it’ll be ok & he’ll be all that matters ❤️ What were your symptoms leading up to labor??

You both will be fine, you’ll see :) sending you a big hug! So exciting that you will get to meet your baby soon

I personally have not but have cousins that were born before 34 weeks. And they are all perfectly healthy

Just had mine at 34 weeks and he is in the NICU. Respiratory issues.

Big big bear hugs 💜

@Amy I wasn't having any really. I wiped and saw a good bit of mucus so my OB wanted me to get checked out.

@Megan omg I just had a lot of mucus yesterday 🫠 how r u doing now?? Hope everything is ok!

@Amy I'm horribly uncomfortable and exhausted. Can't sleep and they have monitors on my stomach that won't stay in the right place. Hoping baby stays in until tomorrow (Sunday).

How are you doing now?

@J’akeecia I'm still very scared but thankfully I made it to 34 weeks and 1 day today and they will be inducing me at 5 AM. I was able to get two rounds of steroid shots to help his lungs. I've done all I can but I can't help but blame myself and feel guilty for letting my baby down. I pray he is born perfectly healthy and won't need a NICU stay.

@Megan sending you my love❤️❤️ mr man just wanted to meet his loving mama a bit early. He wants to see who’s been taking care of him so well! You didn’t let him down, and we are proud of you for doing so well!❤️

@Megan how are you doing dear? Hope you and your baby are doing well 💕

If you are nursing, you do not need to worry about a pump. It’s not recommended to pump until 6 weeks anyway - there are exceptions of course. If you absolutely need a pump, you can ask to borrow one from your hospital or check with WIC. The car seat is the most important. Wash a few clothes and have enough for a few days.
