Where to start in the gym

I am 5 months pp and I want to start being active, lose a bit of weight / belly fat but I’m not sure how to achieve this in the gym. Anyone got any tips or gym routines I could start with please. I need some motivation 😅

Are there any classes you could join? I always found them more motivational than going it alone, and the instructors can guide you. Good luck!

So to lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit first and foremost. You could have the most intense workout routine and live at the gym but unless you are in a deficit you aren’t going to lose anything! So I would track absolutely everything and start with making better choices as well as trying to get in at least 10k steps every day. Weight loss comes from your diet and toning comes from the gym! I got a PT so my plan is tailored to suit my needs but your workout routine will depend on how many days a week you can commit to going to the gym. So for example I go to a stretch tone and core class on Monday and spin on Tuesday (this covers cardio and core) then I do legs and bum on Friday, upper body on Saturday and then full body on Sunday so every muscle group gets worked. But I still track every single thing I eat and drink using my fitness pal and do 10k steps daily ❤️

I have started the mum and baby class at the body by ciara gym in muswell Hill! I'd say it's a HIIT style with weights but doable for PP! It's on Wednesdays. Xx

I learned everything through YouTube! Classes are a brilliant way of learning but also giving you confidence that you're all in it together and there's nothing to be scared of ❤️ If you can invest a personal trainer is a great kick start into fitness too. for regular gym going, a fitness programme is essential. That way you go in knowing what you're doing that day. Your programme is tailored to your goals and your experience. It will tell you everything. You can either find one online or have a PT create one for you. 😊

Same - looking for a routine to sort out my belly and omg my gorilla arms from lugging baby boy around 😆 can't say my diet is helping lol

Also the body by ciara app has lots of online content, there's different trainers on there and it's a whole community with lots of support xx

Start easy, low impact cardio. Treadmill, fast walk on an increasing incline. Elliptical machines are great for getting a sweat going, I used to turn on Netflix and do 30 mins on that or a bike.

I’ve seen loads of groups that especially for mums, you can even bring baby/ kids along if you need to.
