Urine tests in pregnancy

Hi everyone! I am 21 weeks now with my second and I have been having monthly maternity appointments with my doctor. My doctor only collected my urine in the first appointment (when I was 8 weeks pregnant) and never again since then! Is that normal? I had my previous pregnancy in the uk and over there they collect and check urine in every appointment. What has been your experience? (I live in BC btw)

Im in Ontario and I did most of the tests in my second into third trimester.

I'm in Ontario and am pregnant with my second and they've checked my urine every time I go in for both pregnancies

I live in Ontario they never checked my urine my whole pregnancy

There’s research now that says it’s not necessary to check urine every appointment unless you have elevated blood pressure. (According to my OB in Ontario who worked in Alberta for quite a while)

I'm in PEI and have had 2 kids and they checked it at every appointment with both of my pregnancies

I’m in Ontario and they checked my urine every appointment only because I had hypertension prior to pregnancy. The doctors told me they usually don’t check it every appointment

I'm in Alberta. They started checking my urine ever appointment in the third trimester, I believe.

I did the pee test when I told them I was pregnant, they confirmed it and that was the only time it was done. Same thing for my last child who is now (2)

Do you have a midwife or ob or something? Are you getting other checks? I think I had one urine test and then saw a midwife and ob not family doc and no more urine tests were needed but other tests were done like blood tests

@Amelia hi Amelia. Thanks for the response. My maternity doctor is not a OB but she is supposed to be qualified to provide maternity care, I have a midwife too. She is different from my family doctor who does not provide maternity care.

Even before I had appts set up with my OB, I was seeing ny regular doctor. They still checked urine every appt. They did urine check, weight, blood pressure, and doppler to hear heartbeat. They would also send ne requisition ls for anything that needed to be done, like ultrasounds and bloodwork
