Information retention during first year of PP

Is there any other moms out there that are current in a course and feel like there not retaining barely any information like they did before being post partum? I am need deep in a course and feel like I can't remember a thing. What have you done differently to help you memorize better?

I’m 9 months postpartum and my brain still feels like it has holes in it or something. 🙃 Would be nice to know what other people have done to improve it.

Absolutely! Is it a course that requires a lot of rote memorization? For me trying to apply the knowledge and teach it to someone else is way better for remembering then trying to memorize.

Let's just say I'm lucky I can remember how to do my job most days 😂😂 I did read though that for up to two years PP the gray matter in our brains (either too much or lack there of) plays a role in how well we can remember things.

@Amber ugh 2 years ??? That's so long to feel like this...

Thank you for asking because I was thinking of asking this group the same question. I feel like I’m constantly in a fog and my coworkers remember things from meetings we had last week (small but important details) and I feel so bad that I can’t. Same with my partner. We’ll listen to the same podcast and he’ll remember names and small details and I’m also a little embarrassed to not remember much other than the big picture. It’s really been messing with me

@Kiley yeah I know. I'm not looking forward to it. But what has helped me is writing literally everything down. I also utilize my reminder app all the time! Unfortunately the capacity for me to work on two different things at once at work is no longer easy for me to do and it takes awhile to jump in and out of things when asked a question.

@Amber thanks for that. I'm headed back to work and will keep in mind with the multi tasking. It's funny you mention that becuase the course I'm doing right now showed a study that said multi tasking is not an efficient way to get thing done anymore lol good for us.

@Kiley I've heard that too! And I can attest to it 😂 I try to get an answer for a project while working on another one and I spend more time trying to remind myself what is going on with the project I'm not currently working on, and it's just so inefficient because then I take even more time trying to remember what I was doing before the side task. If I could just be like "hey, I'll get that answer to you in the morning", it would be great. But a lot of my work requires answers "right now!"
