Hot baths and hot tubs are a no no in pregnancy because they raise your core body temperature, which is not good for baby. Saunas are also not advised for the same reason x

My midwife recommends baths to help and has never said that I can’t but if your worried it might be worth asking your midwife it’s usually the first trimester where they might say not to x

I had warm baths throughout pregnancy (not boiling like I usually would but still relatively hot) and midwife said it was fine. Take a bottle of water with you and keep hydrated but as long as you feel fine once in (not too hot or dizzy etc), it’s generally okay x

Hot baths and such can cause birth defects. They recommend you keep your core temp at 100 or lower so basically if the water is that or cooler you should be fine. I would double check with your OB though that's just the advice I was given

I had baths and remember being told its fine as long as the water temperature is under a certain level. I think 35 degrees celsius but please check before having one

I had baths all the way through my last pregnancy, I just ran it at 39 degrees. They say that if the water makes your skin red, then it’s too hot and will be raising your core body temp, so if it doesn’t then it’s fine. Check with your midwife tho :)

Warm bath, use a baby thermometer and keep it around 38/39

You absolutely can have a bath but don’t make it too hot. Nothing that will raise your core temperature too much. The recommended water temp is usually below 37 degrees Celsius.

I got told it’s fine and just make sure you aren’t uncomfortably hot maybe use a thermostat to make sure the water doesn’t get too hot

I’ve had a lot of conversations about baths over my pregnancies. The risk is more for women with IVF pregnancies because of the risk of infection. Obviously the other big thing is not wanting to raise your core body temperature too high but as long as your bath isn’t scalding hot you’ll be fine. I’ve had many baths throughout my pregnancy because it’s the only thing that helps with my back pain and I have two very healthy children (both feral as anything but I don’t think that’s because of the baths) and my third baby is cooking away nicely as seen on a scan today. If it makes you feel better do it x

I had a hot bath almost every night, I couldn’t go without one because of the way my hips and pelvis hurt. I’d have a cold glass of icy water at the side of me in case I felt a bit weird or off it and would cool it down before getting out. My little girl was a week late, weighed 7Ib 15oz and didn’t have a single thing wrong with her. We even had to double clamp her cord because it was so healthy. Whenever she’d be sleepy and I wouldn’t feel her as much, I’d get in the warm bath and she’d love it! She’s now 8 weeks and absolutely adores her baths too!

You can have a bath just don’t have it boiling. And it’s mainly in the first trimester for hot tubs/saunas. The risk after this is making you too hot and you faint or something. As long as you are sensible and don’t let yourself get too hot.

I was in a hot tub at 30 weeks pregnant at a log cabin and the midwife said it was fine as long as I took a break every 10 minutes and I had water to keep hydrated.

Thanks everyone xx

I think it's the word 'hot' that's the issue. Generally, we take baths very hot. Like when I get in, I have to do it slowly and it takes a second to acclimatise so that I can be comfortable. Thats way too hot. I think that's about 40/42 degrees ish. I have a thermometer as I have a small child already and I think I googled a bath when pregnant shouldn't be hotter than 37ish maybe (?!) as anything hotter is a risk to overheating and miscarriage risk. But you can still have baths .... unfortunately the bath gets cold quickly staying at a lower temp but is ok for a short while. definitely do a bit of googling and look at sources you trust 😊
