Routine

Does everyone here have a routine for their little one? If so, what does that look like? My little girl is 11 weeks and I’ve just been following her lead but conscious it should perhaps be more structured by now.

Mine is 12 weeks and still random/following her where possible. I find it hard to have a routine that fits around life! I have an older child and sometimes have to do school run. We do baby groups 2 days a week. And then I generally have plans to see friends/family the rest of the week, or appointments etc! I think if I tried to get a schedule it would just get broken all the time anyway 😂 she sleeps when she can! Xx

my routine isn’t necessarily solid to timings! but she wakes whenever in the morning.. i normally keep her up for a max of 2 hours as she normally starts showing her sleepy cues by rubbing her eyes and getting irritated. i feed and change, bit of play time in that time! she normally naps between 30mins to 2 hours! around 6.30-7ish (dependant on the day) i do bath time. get her in her swaddle ready for a feed (play white noise) then down for bed! this just means we get a bit of an evening and some dinner. she then normally only wakes once in the night between 3-5am definitely have a look at @takingcarababies on instagram and her website. it’ll tell you a schedule/routine for your babies age, but obviously states it’s not to be enforced as such!

Thank you both so much!

I try and keep our morning and evening routine the same, simple as waking up and going to sleep around the same time and doing the same things. For example, I'm a night owl so at 8:30pm I'll bathe or quickly wash him, fresh clothes, bottle around 9pm, cuddle, nap, bottle at 1am, sleep wake at 9am, bottle, fresh clothes, I do my morning routine, and then we either have somewhere to go or we just go for a walk, bottle, playtime, etc. Exact timings are mostly to help me stay on track but he knows what to expect now and sleeps when he feels like it otherwise. Do what works for you, consistency is better than precision here

We only have a routine on what we do, for bedtimes etc not for when we do it! As for example she’s ready for a nap now and it’s a bit early for her bedtime

We don’t have much of a routine but it’s similar most nights my daughter is 13 weeks wakes around 8/9-10am she has a feed, changed, play then around lunchtime she will have another feed then have a nap of around 2-3hrs she usually has a small 30 min Power Nap around 6/7 then we do bath bottle and bed some nights she doesn’t go down straight away but usually in bed for around 10pm she wakes around 12am for a feed and she sleeps the night. It just depends if we’re out through the day and stuff we go to baby classes twice a week

11 weeks and we have like a routine window if that makes sense. Last feed with a story, red light and cuddle til drowsy is usually between 8-30-10:30 depending on the day and then he will wake for his dummy back in around 4/5am then will wake properly 6:30-8ish. During the day we just follow his lead though no nap routine at all!

the only sort of routine we have is that i get her dressed every morning (unless we’re having a lazy day!). then i aim for us to be upstairs with her having quiet time for 9/9:30pm. she tends to fall to sleep on me for 10pm anyway☺️she sleeps whenever she wants during the day, i’ve tried a routine with it before but she ends up overtired from fighting sleep and it’s just not worth it, she’ll tell me when she’s tired😂 we do baby group on a monday, apart from that i find things to fill our week when i can!x

We don’t have a routine, I just follow his cues. I don’t understand this obsession with getting babies into routines or on a schedule… I don’t even have a schedule! I eat and sleep when I can around the baby, he’s 11 weeks now.

Thanks everyone
