How long after labour did people become active?

First-time mum to be here, and I was wondering how long after natural labour were people becoming more active, i.e., go out for coffee or going to the gym, etc. My mum said a couple of days, but that seems 😳 to me, especially if there's tearing.

I went for a walk 3 days after giving birth, I pushed too far and had to walk sooooo slowly for the last part home.....then again I did have an episiotomy and a 2nd degree tear 🤣😬

Following this x

I was more sleep deprived than in pain honestly

Just sleepy I was up and walking after birth 3rd day been able to do normal things everybody is different and recovers at different stages :) x

I had a c-section and went for a walk and a lunch out on day 5 with just a little pain - but manageable xx

As soon as the epidural wore off 🤣 after a 41 hour labor and episiotomy. I went for a shower to freshen up and then to go get some snacks because I was so hungry. The nurses were looking at me like I was crazy. The next day I was discharged and went for a walk. I honestly regret that now as I wish I took the time to rest and sleep when I could, I ended up with an infection and when my partner went back to work I didn't have the time to rest and recover. Just take it easy and listen to your body, take the time to heal and just soak up everything about that beautiful baby. When they say it goes by fast it really does!

I went to a coffee shop with my LG at 4 days old and then out every day after. I wish I’d spent more time chilling tho…

Haha I was up and walking same day and back to work with in a day or two with most my kids but with first that I did tear I went back to work a week later

I was walking the day after but not going for walks. I did my usual. I had a 1st degree tear. I didn’t do the gym but kept active by walking and made sure I didn’t over do it and I was fine

@husna<3 I'm sorry I'm not sure what that is

I went for short walks 3 days after, I didn’t try the gym or anything for at least 10 weeks tho x

Don't let anyone bully you into going out before you're ready. Not even your mum. Everyone has a unique experience and so it's only for you to say when you're ready. Your unique body, your unique experience. Some people like to get out some people prefer to rest at home. My partner and all the grandparents pressured me to go to restaurants 4 times during 3-4 weeks post emergency c section and I absolutely resent them for it I was not ready and it set back my recovery. Which none of them could understand as none of them have had that type of surgery. It was "you'll have to BF in public eventually" but IMO I should have been allowed to say how soon was too soon. In Asian cultures they rest for 40 days after natural birth...

@Amy 5 days in the bed. 5 days on the bed and 5 days around the bed. those first few weeks are so important and you shouldn’t rush it

@husna<3 thank you for explaining ❤️
