We had a scan at 6 weeks, you could see a flicker but not hear anything so I’m guessing you wouldn’t hear anything but we didn’t try fmwith a Doppler
The midwife didn’t recommend them when we asked. It can be fairly stressful at appointments when they can’t find the heartbeat straight away.

No you’d never find it that early and would just cause you anxiety when you can’t find it I’m having twins and couldn’t find them until about 15 weeks xx

Baby is that small I think you'd struggle to find the heart beat tbh and may think its the heart beat when in fact its the placenta, I would wait until your first midwife check to see where she finds the baby then you know where to place the monitor xx

I was finally able to find the heart beat with an at home doppler at about 12 wks.
I'd been trying for a while.
Definitely don't get one if you think having trouble finding it will cause you anxiety. I would still have trouble finding the heartbeat at seven months, I could get it eventually but it could take some time.

I used one around 6 weeks in both pregnancies and found heartbeat, needed reassurance before my early scan, but you have to make sure the heartbeat you find isn’t the same pace as yours, you have to be quite low with it too, just above your pubic bone but under your belly button sort of area, don’t be discouraged if you don’t find it, it took me a good few tries to get it 😅 midwfie found it at 7 weeks but they tend not to check just incase they don’t find it as they don’t want to cause anxiety, if you do it try not to use it for longer than 2/3 minutes as they say it’s not safe to do it any longer than that apparently, good luck 🤞🏻 x

My midwife suggested not even getting one because it can cause stress/panic and anxiety if you dont pick up the heartbeat yourself!

No. You’re not going to hear a heartbeat at 6weeks. You’d do well to even find it on an internal scan at 6weeks!! Leave it to the professionals who know what they’re doing x

I didn’t get one as I knew it would cause me too much anxiety if I wasn’t able to quickly find a heartbeat. Also, your placenta pulses and can sound like a heartbeat. Doctors are trained to know the difference, but we may not be able to tell. To me, it seemed like it would just cause me more stress

Thank you everyone!!❤️

Sorry to be a kill Joy ...midwifes don't recommend them and my midwife showed me why....
Dopplers can pick up our heartbeat instead of babies, they also pick up the blood through the placenta so you might think you're hearing a heartbeat of baby and its not.... compleatly your choice but I compleatly understood what she meant when she showed me x

Midwives don't even attempt it until 16 weeks. Honestly, it might feel a like a good idea but home dopplers aren't recommended because they can cause more harm than good. Even trained midwives sometimes struggle to locate the heartbeat so you may cause yourself unnecessary stress and panic which can in turn have a negative effect on the baby and your mental health long term. Also, because you're not a professional, you may hear what you think is Baby's heartbeat whereas in fact it could be your own, in which case if something actually is wrong with baby, you may be reassured and not get yourself checked in time to help baby, so really do approach with caution, never ever use for reassurance. If there's a change in Baby's movements later on, get yourself checked by a professional. Most people won't even see the heartbeat on a scan until 7 weeks so you really won't be able to hear it that early.

Better avoiding them, you may find your own heartbeat thinking it’s babies but your baby may be poorly, avoid them all together unless you know what your looking for

My doctor showed me how to use mine. I found it at 12 weeks, and I can find it within minutes every time now. I know the difference between babies heartbeat and everything else. I have the mindset I understand sometimes I won't find it if baby is in an odd position or something. And I know if I have any real concerns to call the doctor. I love mine and listen to it every other night and it gives my husband something to do with the baby right now to. As long as you have the mindset it's just for fun and something to bond with your partner about, I definitely recommend one. They also aren't strong enough to harm the baby like others say, or so all of my doctors have said anyways. The only thing they are worried about is if you think something is wrong and you use it, hear the heartbeat and think everything is okay when something might be wrong.🤷♀️ just my opinion though, nobody attack me lol

I wasn’t able to find it until 13 weeks, but it has been an absolutely lifesaver for me. I was going into the doctor every week freaking out, only because there was no other way of reassuring me baby was okay. I’ve lost two babies before and my anxiety has been horrible. I honestly don’t know what I would do without it. It reassures me every time I’ve used it. Ever since I found it at 13 weeks, I’ve been able to find it every single time. I would 100% reccomend but it will definitely take a little time before you can hear it. I did check a few times before 13 weeks but when I couldn’t find it I just told myself it’s just too early and tried again another time. I was so happy when I finally got it!

No, too early

Home dopplers aren’t recommended as they can be inaccurate and give you false reassurance that baby is well x

I was able to hear my baby’s heartbeat via Doppler at 8 weeks. For me, after having a miscarriage, using a Doppler gave me a peace of mind. It was difficult to find the heartbeat at first & I wouldn’t recommend using one unless you know well enough, because sometimes it’s hard to differentiate your heartbeat from baby’s unless you’re a trained professional (I’m a critical care nurse so I def know what an adult heartbeat sounds like). It can cause unnecessary stress in people who are not very familiar!
