Context:
So I've been sleeping really bad, super tight upper back and typical hip pain, up every 3 hours to pee. Makes me concerned about how this is supposed to be my most energetic trimester because I'm so tired all the time. So I decided to try to sleep in my recliner chair to see how I feel.
My baby has been kicking the shit out of me since week 19, so I've been used to strong and consistent movement. It's always been very forward and downward like into my bladder. It hasn't changed spots at all.
My last appointment my doctor spoke about getting enough iron and it made me realize my prenatal vitamins didn't have iron! so I ordered Centrum prenatal vitamins and it has more minerals than the vitamins I was taking before.
So I was excited to finally get them so I took them for the first time last night after dinner. Then I realized I might have already taken my other Vitamins in the morning. I looked it up and it shouldn't be the end of the world...
So basically in the last 24 hours. I took a different vitamin, and slept "on my back" on an incline (at least 20°) I felt fine, slept really well actually until I had to pee, but then I couldn't fall back asleep and was feeling really hot. So I went back to my bed for the rest of the night, still really warm so I didn't have any blankets on me ( my husband had more blankets on him than normal and told me this morning he was extra cold last night....
And since walking up I haven't been feeling nearly as many kicks and movements as I normally do.
When I didn't wake up to kicks this morning I literally cried feeling so guilty thinking the worse. I wasn't even hungry this morning, which is a first (usually I'm starving and sometimes even have an oatmeal cookie in the middle of the night after going pee just so my stomach stops hurting so I can sleep again.) So anyways, no movement after breakfast, which again, is not normal thus far.
My head is spinning. My husband has tried to reassure me that maybe the iron has just really helped me and maybe the baby is more " chill " now. Which I hope is the case, I've read about fetal patterns changing, it just seems all so sudden, and I don't like the timing of it all.
I finished lunch now and I've started feeling some movement again, it's calmed me down.
This is the first time I've felt a difference in her movement since her first kicks weeks ago, and it was a pretty significant change in my opinion.
(My placenta is posterior low lying, could she have just been kicking the placenta since I "laid on my back" for longer than normal and I haven't been able to feel it until she rolled over after lunch?)
Does anyone have anything to add to this? anything about fetal movement patterns changing?

If you’re concerned I would ring your maternity unit and they will put you on the monitor x

I had a similar change in my movements at that stage of my pregnancy, it went from all the time to a lot less, I was seen at the hospital but all they do is listen to baby’s heart beat, so it doesn’t give you much reassurance as to why things have changed, although I’d always recommend calling the hospital! But I was told babys don’t have an established pattern until 28-30 weeks, which annoyed me as I, like you, had gotten used to his movements, but I was reassured baby was still finding his pattern xx

If you’ve started feeling regular movement now, then probably wouldn’t worry too much. She may have just been quiet or kicking a different position, I personally didn’t get a regular pattern until after 24 weeks.. however, if you are concerned then contact your midwife because there is no harm, better safe than sorry xx

I would always go and get checked out. Call the maternity triage at your hospital. There’s nothing to lose. If the baby is fine then you’ll have the reassurance. I went in to triage at 3am during my first pregnancy. The baby was totally fine and the staff were lovely and very supportive and glad that i came to be checked.

My baby’s movements changed around 29 weeks as she’s just so cramped up in there,
I made sure I got it checked even if it was nothing as it could be something serious. Always trust your gut, I would rather know if something was wrong and got it seen to in time than leave it and not know, they always say to get any change checked! I would advise going to get it checked out, could be absolutely nothing but it would definitely take away your anxieties x

Always ring the midwife if you are concerned. You can drink a glass of ice cold water (give the baby a little shock) and lay down on your side to encourage movement.
Babies wiggle around a lot and it could be that they’ve moved to a position where you don’t feel as much. Try not to worry. My first baby’s patterns changed quite a lot in the second trimester and even in the third. Especially if I was busy, I sometimes wouldn’t feel him the whole day until I got home. The cold water trick did usually help though!

I’d defo get checked out, you’d hate to have missed something but I’m sure it’s nothing. I’ve had some crazy late nights in my pregnancy trying to get bubba to move and ended up in triage just to realise he’s kicking 😂😅

My baby boy has such erratic movements it's literally hard to see any pattern. It's more like he's really active 2 days in a row, then chill the next 3 days. There are things I do that more than likely get him moving, like drink something really cold, eat something sweet, and lay on my side and that tends to reassure me. I've also noticed his patterns do change every month or so, which hasn't been great for my stress levels either. I know it's a super nerve wracking thing to deal with, but you are definitely not alone.

I was literally just thinking about how I haven’t felt her move as much today! I’m 26 weeks so not at the kick counts week yet but approaching. I’ll feel a few flutters just not as much as the last week. I’m not worried yet after reading all these and feeling the flutters but it’s so terrifying!

i also recently switched to a vitamin with iron in it and it was the same with me and my baby. she stopped kicking super hard for like 2 days but i still felt weaker movements. after that she kicked hard for one more day and then went back to being soft. now i get a mix of hard and soft kicks and movements, so i really doubt it's anything to worry about and they tell you not to kick count until 28 weeks anyway because of all the growing and changing that your baby, body, and uterus go through during the second trimester. if you are really worried though you can call your ob or go to L&D

I didn’t establish a strong pattern until I entered week 27/28. I’m week 29 now and she’s very consistent now than she was a month ago. I wouldn’t overthink it too much!! It’s good you started taking iron that’s very important for baby. But if you’re wanting a professional opinion please call the hospital and ask

At an appointment one time they couldn’t find a heartbeat so we did an ultrasound and it took a minute but my son was fine sometimes they just dive deep under i guess 😂. It was scary but ur doing good !
