Starting to think my little one has silent reflux, he has all the symptoms, some worse than others! (Waiting for call back from GP) but it explains all the awful nights we’ve had, not being able to lay him down and him wanting to be upright.
He will only settle this way (picture) with something over his head being upright. I did post a pic last night of him the same way😂
Anyone else’s little one suffering from silent reflux? What has helped? What medication have you been given?

Same here we have been given gaviscon but to be honest it’s not making much difference. Would love to hear how you get on with gp

Hello. Silent reflux mum here. I took my 7 week old boy to out of hours last week as I couldn't console him. He was SCREAMING as if he was in pain for hours solid. They diagnosed silent reflux after listening to his symptoms. Started on infant gaviscon in bottles and has made the world of difference. If that doesn't work though they did advise we can trial liquid omeprazole. Xxx

Do you use gaviscon in every feed? Because our boy became very constipated with it. Even on gaviscon he can’t lay down for long as he still brings milk up

Exact same symptoms here! I have been giving gaviscon to my little one but not noticed much difference. How often did you give your little one gaviscon? Was it every feed as I was told it can only given up to 6 times in 24 hours x

We've got a silent reflux baby too - gaviscon didn't work great for us but she's just started on omeprazole and she had her first ok night last night in weeks!!

We’re also using Omeprozole as gaviscon didn’t do much and caused constipation so made him even worse! Still being sick through the night and when laid down but isn’t grunting and groaning half as much, hoping once it’s properly in his system we may see a reduction in being sick when laid down too! He’s still sicking up during feeding but a lot less than previously!

I give a full sachet 6 times a day which isn't every feed but normally every 2nd feed. They say if you haven't noticed an improvement in 24 hours then it's probably not going to be effective. I know that omeprazole can take up to 2 weeks to work too xxx

My boy had this at night the worse and I found it was probably because that’s when he was lying down the most! I combi feed, and during the night feeds I give him formula at 10/11pm and then for his 3am feed, he then has breast milk the rest of the feeds throughout the day. He is never ever sick on the formula, I give him HiPP and I think because it’s thicker than breast milk it stays down! I also give infacol before every night feed and sit him upright a bit longer. This has really helped him x

we give infacol before every feed and feed him slightly elevated & keep him upright for as long as we possibly can after every feed and nothing is working. Had a GP appointment today and they are useless, didn’t even do anything. Because he isn’t screaming uncontrollably they won’t give him anything. But he has all the other signs of silent reflux.

Definitely get him on a PPI if you can. My baby had severe silent reflux for 8
months and the stress and lack of sleep almost killed me. Definitely advocate for meds.

what is a PPI? X
