Has anyone ever changed their child’s name via deed poll (uk)?
Has it affected anything? What was the process like? How long does it take?
I’ve noticed that when filling in important documents and forms, they sometimes ask have you ever been known by any other name? How will this affect my toddler if I change her name by deed poll?
Just for clarification, my daughters birth name is not the name we use at home, hence why I want to make the change before she starts nursery next year. No judgement please.

I haven’t changed my daughters name, however I changed my surname via deedpoll when I turned 16. I’ve never been affected by filling out important documents etc.
If you’re planning on changing it I would do it sooner rather than later. I had mine changed because I didn’t want the surname that was on my birth certificate to be on my bank card, ID etc. I was never known by the birth certificate surname xx
