Newborn leg shaking

It's understandable to be concerned when you notice something unusual with your baby, especially at such a young age. It's not uncommon for newborns to have some involuntary movements, including shaking or twitching, which can be a normal part of their development. However, if your baby is shaking her legs specifically when you tap her back or during diaper changes, it could be a reflexive response to being startled or uncomfortable.

Since she is only 3 weeks old, her nervous system is still maturing, and she may react to stimuli in ways that can seem unusual. However, if the shaking is persistent, occurs frequently, or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms (like difficulty breathing, lethargy, or feeding issues), it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.

In the meantime, try to ensure that she is comfortable during diaper changes and that the environment is calm. Gentle movements and soothing voices can help ease her discomfort.

Mine would always do this when she was a tiny newborn, I can’t remember when she out grew it. Think she was a few months old at least! She would do it in bath too!
