Not crawling yet or showing signs to want to stand

Hey guys, my little one is 9 months and 2 weeks, and has been born 3 weeks earlier then his due date. He’s currently not showing any signs of crawling, he’s quite laid back and doesn’t want to do much in terms of “exercising” and he’s not showing signs of wanting to pull to stand either. Was wondering if there’s anyone else in this situation? Any tips on how I can encourage him to do these two things? I tried everything I could think of, from encouraging him with toys, to pretending to crawl myself, trying to get him to lift himself to reach other toys, but he gets frustrated quite easily and gives up.

I had exactly this with my first son, he never showed interest and eventually crawled at 13 months and walked at 18 months. Just a late bloomer! Easier said than done but try not to worry!

My daughter is similar. Doesn’t try to push up on her arms or knees to get into crawling position & can’t really bare weight on her legs if I try to stand her up. She was also born 3 weeks early. But every baby is different, they will do it eventually just got to try not to stress x

My baby was born a week late and she still can't do it 😄 I went to the 9-12 month review a few days ago and the health visitor says it's fine if they don't crawl and that some babies just go straight to walking

37 weeks is classed as full term so I wouldn’t worry so much about that. We attend lots of baby groups and I see loads of babies who aren’t doing those things either. Crawling isn’t classed as a mile stone because lots of babies do skip it. In terms of supporting/encouraging him it sounds like you are doing everything you can so just continue as you are. Stand him up with support a few times a day just to build the muscles in the legs etc. is he able to sit himself up from laying? I spent about a week helping my girl do that several times a day and it seemed to be from there that she started to get into a crawl position (she hated tummy time!) she didn’t roll until 8 months (she did it at 5 months and then just stopped 😂) don’t stress and just try to make it as fun as possible, he will get there! They are still babies ❤️

thanks for the encouraging message. My little one can’t sit himself up. Whenever I try to show him how to do it he goes straight into crying 🙈 What method have you used? I usually try to put him on a side, while lifting him from one of his arms and encouraging him to hold the other hand on the floor so that he can push himself a bit.

Thanks , and @Hannah, it’s reassuring to hear we’re not alone 🙈 I keep telling myself not to worry as I know every baby is different and will do it in his own time, but sometimes I can’t help it.

Just each time she was on her back I would have a hand behind her back and would lean her to 1 side and gently lift as she was trying to do it, sounds very similar to what you are already doing. My girl literally went from nothing to crawling and standing in the space of a week so honestly don’t stress it, they all get there in their own time. I was so stressed when she wasn’t rolling etc and everyone else was and now she is a pro super quickly too.

Awesome, thanks so much We’ll keep practicing 😊

I would try to see someone, usually not healthy to stand before crawling
