Hello! I have a 2 month old girl. I am having a hard time getting her to sleep for a long period of time in her bassinet or crib through out the day. At night I am bad and I do have her sleep in the bed with me and she only wakes once to eat. Any one have tips for during the day at least? She is going to be going to daycare and she has to be able to sleep in a pack n play. Thank you in advance and please no judgement about her sleeping in the bed with me.

Conoce más sobre nuestras reglas.I literally stand there bent over with my arm next to him on the mattress for a minute lol kills my back but it usually leaves my smell and warms it up a bit
I also hold him in his sleep sack right before sleep so that smells like me too
@Meah I just got past the stage of her sleeping in my chest at night! Not going to lie I miss those snuggles.
@Allie she isn’t a huge fan on sleep sacks :( maybe I’ll try sleeping with crib sheets
I had the same issue. I used to put a heating pad on his bassinet beforehand and remove it just as I laid him down, so it would still be warm. I did that for about a week, and now he transfers with no issue
@Julizan thank you I will try that! :)
Following, I have the same problem. Although he sleeps at night in his crib with no problem, but day time naps have to be contact naps. My husband is going to put up black out curtains this weekend to see if that helps during the day
@Julizan I did that in the beginning too!
So this will be a long suggestion😅 but if you breastfeed pump your milk put it in a bottle and feed her while she lays sideways on the bassinet, make sure its a full feeding so that she gets really full! she’ll get tired eventually and just fall asleep there! If you bottle feed but you haven’t side fed definitely try it it’s so convenient for both you and her and tends to knock them out quickly! that’s what i do, i love to co sleep so at night my girl does come to bed with my but during the day she sleeps in her bassinet without a problem ! Hope this helps!
i feel like some babies just don’t like to nap during the day. my 8 week old taps out at about 30 minute naps during the day. she’ll sleep longer on me, of. course but i don’t like to get into the habit so i deal with the shorter naps and at night she’ll sleep through the night for the most part. wakes up once or twice to eat. just keep establishing good routines and they’ll figure it out! i’ll also say, i was an infant teacher, and babies in daycare really adjust super quickly. i wouldn’t worry too much about her sleeping in the pack and play there. ñ
@Claudia thank you!
@Kenzie thank you!
So I had the same issue and ended up transitioning to her crib at night first. She gets swaddled tight with her hands out (she refuses a paci so hands are how she soothes herself) and it takes me about 1-2 hours of rocking/walking/nursing to get her down and I slowly transition her into the crib while removing one hand at a time and then I have a little weighted blanket that I put over her legs to help and she sleeps great that way! Now naps during the day she has to be swaddled or in the carrier to sleep longer than 20 minutes
@Liddia my baby isn’t a fan of sleep sacks either, but I found that she likes her arms out but to still be tight around her chest, so we gave the Velcro swaddles that just wrap around her chest. I always wait until she is in a deep sleep to put her down. If she wakes up I usually wait until she is full on crying to pick her up. Most of the time she fusses for about 5 min then goes to sleep! Hope this helps!
My two month old will sleep in his bassinet at night but doesn’t like to nap there during the day. My husband will be home with him so I think his plan is baby wearing so he can get things done. I’d probably try to get baby used to sleeping alone at night since that seems to be an easier transition at first. Then set up a good sleep environment and try to time the nap so they are the right amount of tired. My pediatrician also said it’s perfectly fine to start them on their side or tummy then put them on their back again when settled. You just don’t want to leave them there unsupervised. Patting them firm enough to jiggle them was something I saw online since it mimics the womb. I do that and it helps. Also tracing from their nose up and around their eyebrows can help or stroking their hair. I also wrap the swaddle around him while I’m rocking him to help him transition which helps at night.
I’ve started laying a heating pad in his bed for a few before laying him down so that he doesn’t go from my warm baby to a cold bed and I’ve noticed it does wonders and he sleeps way longer, also brown noise instead of white!!
My baby also sleep in bed with us she hates the damn bassinet but I don’t mind since she will be my only baby 🙃
Daytime I get nap trapped because she also wakes up when I set her down anywhere lol
Do you breastfeed?
One way that helps my baby stay asleep in the crib is that I breastfeed him to sleep side lying (so I’m not holding him/he can’t feel my body heat) and then transition him to his back on my futon (I have a Japanese futon on the floor in his room, you could also do this on a firm mattress). Then I put him in his crib. He usually sleeps for at least 2-4 hour stretches at night, the first stretch is the longest! Naps, not so much lol. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you!
Heating pad on the mattress before you lay her down is a lifesaver!
Ooo I feel you. My baby goes to daycare here in three weeks so we have been trying to get him in his bsssinet, well that has not been going well at all. Last night every time I put him in there even if he was asleep he would scream and cry. Our baby has been collapsing and during the day is usually asleep on us. So idk how daycare is gonna go. And I’ve tried every trick everyone mentions. Heating pad, shirt on bassinet, moving over when asleep when half asleep trying to get him to sleep while awake, rocking, sound machine, swaddles basically everything. Honestly don’t know what to do anymore I really don’t want to cosleep anymore but my baby is so stubborn. The only time he’s slept in his bassinet is if I put my arm over him basically cosleeping but him in it and he still wakes up at an hour or 20 mins scream crying. If I remove my arm too it’s immediately awake. I think he loves my warmth consistently so not just a heating pad on the bassinet cause he will wake up still
All this to say I definitely feel your struggle. I hope some of the tips mentioned above does help! I think I just have a stubborn baby since his dad is always stubborn
No judgement!! My son sleeps with me too. It doesn’t just help him. It helps me as well.
My LO did not like the bassinet either so sometimes I would put her in it during the day when I was folding laundry on the bed and I would make it a positive experience for her. Y being extra smiley and using an extra happy voice to”chat” with her. Then when I noticed she was playing independently with a toy I let her do that and she fell asleep one day on her own. I also used a heating pad and swaddled. Her falling asleep on her own is a rarity but I think it created a positive association.
For the transfer, I first put her legs down and hold them to prevent the startle and then lower her back/head and slide out my hand. Sometimes I hold my hand on her tummy for 30sec. Oh and white noise.
