Preschool or No?

I've been thinking about putting my son into preschool next year since it allows him to grow and learn things. But I don't know if financially it's the best decision for me and my husband because for the school I want to put my son into it's expensive and cost around $1000.00 a month and that sucks to me but I want my son to Excel and enjoy his early years. Do any other moms have advice on preschool? What did you guys do for your kids?

I saw put him in preschool but find a cheap or free one. The more contact he has with other kids and structure the more prepared he will be in the future.

How old is he? I'm in the same position and my son is 3. I really want to get him in something by age 4.

Wow that's crazy expensive
My son was in a private Christian pre school and only paid $250 a month

Literally in the same boat 360 a month plus 150 application fee and 150 for book fee 🤦🏽‍♀️ But I want him in this pre school .

$1000 is way too much for a 2 year old! Unless you can comfortably foot that bill, I say no to that one. But absolutely to preschool. It helps in sooooo many more ways than moms realize! Very good idea but that number is super high!

I would say Deff do preschool.. even if you have to take him somewhere else and pay a little less. I’m telling you this from experience. I didn’t put my son in Pre-K and just had to throw him in kindergarten a week ago and he bawled everyday except Friday! He’s gotten used to it. But pre-K seriously prepares them. He’s also learning SO much. He wasn’t a real big eater and now he comes home asking for food I never thought he’d eat. He has such better manners and focus. Girl do it. I say Deff do it. I’m putting my daughter in for sure.

I am in the Bay Area and pay $1,200 so I’m not sure why people think $1,000 is so expensive, it’s pretty common to cost that much. I suggest do your research, here in CA we can search any complaints that may have been filed against a care provider, and details of the reports. You always want to research! My little is on his way to TK and does SO well in school and absolutely loves it. I definitely think by age 3 they should be in some type of social/school setting. But I’m also in a moms local group that some of the moms homeschool but they meet up for park play dates or more fun education “field trips” to give their kids that social aspect. Whatever works for you!

You could always homeschool for preschool or do activities on your own to ensure kindergarten readiness. For preschool my daughter only went for 2 1/2 hours two days a week her first year and 2 1/2 hours four days a week her second year. $120/month. You could join mom/kid groups, library story times, play dates, and even homeschool co-ops that socialize your kids. My five year old is socialized and knows how to interact with others. It’s an area that allows for continuous growth.

Personally I think you don’t need to find an expensive preschool that provides quality teaching. A lot of preschools that are for low income and some of the greatest in teaching abc actually caring for your kiddos. Try finding something that’s more reasonable in pricing.

Where are you? 1000 a month isn’t unusual here. If you want to wait, then wait. I didn’t go to preschool since my grandmother lived with us, and did fine.

Where do y'all work paying 1200/week and 12k/year for PRESCHOOL?

I'm all for preschool. It really gets them ready for actual school. I want to send my kids prepared for kindergarten and preschool really does that. I'm low income as we have a 7 person family so my daughter goes to preschool for free. As far as paying $1,000 (!!!!) A MONTH that's a bit ridiculous. That's a hard decision. Have you called around? I know some churches offer preschool but it's usually not as expensive and only a few days a week. Just a thought?

Search around for an afford preschool option. I searched for weeks and found 1 that was a few days a week and only cost 200 a month which was the cheapest and it had what I wanted most - Bilingual program

We paid $340 month for 2 years bc we had 2 kids go back to back!! 3 times a week.. about $3k a school year. 😬 We are in Southern California, north LA County.

I work for the school department in my city and the preschool is free. I always try to tell moms out there to put them in preschool instead of paying an arm and a leg for daycare. I just recently found out that other areas preschool isn't free which is crazy. I hope you do find one cheap or free because it is very important to start your child's social skills at a early age.

Check Headstart if you are eligible for preschool program. It's income based and it's part of the government. You can also check some vocational schools or public high school programs. It's in there curriculum if the student wants to take Early childhood education. Also check your town or city if they have free preschool.
