Divorce

Hi ladies....husband told me he wants a divorce, pregnant with his third child. He wants a mediator. Does anyone have any advice or whether or not you think a lawyer or a mediator is better? I’m just trying to figure out what’s best for me and my family.

When my ex and I were going over our custody agreement we each had a lawyer and a mediator. Both are expensive. I would find out if he’s using a lawyer or not. If you can just use a mediator I may save you both money.

Lawyer is better, costs more yes but it’s better to have someone who will make sure you don’t get screwed.

You can always ask for him to pay for a lawyer since he is requesting the divorce.

I just went through mediation yesterday and it didn't go well so I still need to go to a trial with my ex. I advise getting a lawyer.

It would be awesome if it can be settled with a mediator. If you guys can do everything amicably and put kids first and not be petty, then mediator can work. But usually there are so many emotions involved that mediation doesn’t work.

If you both agree on splitting everything and will be able to work together mediator is best!If you think there will be issues, then a lawyer is the way to go.

I watched Sarah Jessica Parker’s series called Divorce and it made me feel like as much as people want a divorce or separation to be amicable there will come a point where you’ll have to put yourself and your kids first which to him will translate as hostility or animosity and the ‘amicable’ plan will be out of the window. I’m so glad you’re choosing yourself, and I don’t have any real advice but I hope everything works out for you x

Hi how are you? I am so sorry you’re going through this. My name is Ashley, I have two boys on my own, I’m a preschool teacher and a life coach. I also have a degree in psychology and education. But my older son I was never married to his dad but we are no longer together. We spent eight years in court and I finally got this decision making of his health well-being and education which is great. Court tenni hi how are you? I am so sorry you’re going through this. I would say if you guys can agree medication is a way to go and it’s less cheaper and invested. It’s also important to understand where he stands and

Mediation is sufficient and can work well if both parties are co operative. Its worth trying.
