Hi guys, my baby was born in February since birth he has had this one gunky eye that won’t go away. I’m constantly cleaning it with a damp warm cloth but it doesn’t seem to make much difference. Has anyone else had the same situation? It’s only in his left eye. Sometimes he even wakes up with that eye shut. Is this something I should phone the doctors about?

That sounds a lot like pink eye! I'd get it looked at just to be safe!
If it’s been gunky since Feb it needs to be seen by a medical professional to rule out any infection.
My son had this for the first four and half months of his life on and off. One time we were given a cream and the other doctors said cool boiled water, I know how frustrating it is. One thing I found helpful is not cleaning it too often, we were doing it so many times in a day and it only seemed to get worse. If there’s a little bit of gunk that’s not affecting him just leave it be I’d say! That was really the only thing that helped. My baby is almost 7 months and hasn’t had it since (thankfully) x
@Marisa Respectfully, that’s quite misinformed and unhelpful. Conjunctivitis (it’s proper term) is where the white of the eye is completely red, which I’m sure she’d know if baby had and would get medical attention
@Rebecca that’s true. My baby doesn’t have no pink eye or red eye I genuinely just think it’s a gunky eye it’s not worsening or anything I have been advised to just wipe it with a damp cloth with circular motions incase there’s a blocked tear duct x
I know it’s hard but I wouldn’t worry too much, it bothers us more than it bothers them. My son saw 3 doctors and a chemist and all of them said he’ll grow out of it it’s a blocked tear duct and touch wood he did grow out of it! We used those little cotton pads on it and cooled boiled water if it was bad or gluey. Other than that we left it alone and it cleared up itself, hang in there! X
