I'm a bit paranoid about getting pregnant on my IUD. My husband and I have 2 kids and we have decided this is the perfect amount. He has told me if I get pregnant again he couldn't do it, and insinuated he would like me to get an abortion if that happened. I thought about it for a few months and finally told him no I couldn't do it. I suggested him getting snipped even though he told me in the past that he would never get it done. Just wanted to get others input on if I should feel safe with just an IUD.

Learn more about our guidelines.I would definitely use some kind of protection for the time being (condoms?). There are stories of women getting pregnant on birth control, so just be aware of that. I’ve heard of women having good and bad experiences with the IUD, so there’s no telling how things will turn out for you until you get one yourself.
IMO, since you’ve already sacrificed and put YOUR body at risk to carry and birth 2 children, then your husband should be the one to get snipped—instead of you having to risk your body even more by getting on hormonal birth control. Unlike female sterilization, a vasectomy doesn’t require going under anesthesia and doesn’t provide nearly as many risks as an abortion or hormonal birth control.
I've had mine 3ish years now and my boyfriend and I have had sex 4-5x a week consistently that whole time. Not even a pregnancy scare! Obviously it happens sometimes, but it's usually when something goes wrong, like becoming dislodged.
Hey i don’t want to scare you but I thought it’s important to get the other side. I had my IUD in for 4 years and I was totally happy with it (Copper-IUD / no hormones, which I really preferred). But I just gave birth 3 weeks ago to my IUD -baby. There is always a rare chance, and it’s very unlikely that it happens to you - but: it can happen. I heard that the Mirena is a bit safer, but you need to consider if you want to have the hormones. The chances are less than 1% in the first year - so it’s very rare. If you have any questions, just let me know. I hope i could help 😊
My sister has a friend who had already 2 kids and decided to put a IUD a few months later she got pregnant now she has 3 kids
