Hi,
So I’ve just had a sweep, I’m due in 5 days and it was so so sore, like she made me cry!? I was in tears. I never experienced that pain with my first baby and I had a few sweeps with him. She was finishing at 14:30 so I do think she had home time on the mind tbh. Has anyone else experienced a sore sweep? It really did hurt😭😭

I was crawling up the bed and crying. She didn’t even ask if I wanted one either. It was the end of her shift, she had packed her stuff up and got called in to do a simple dilation check on me because the student midwife wasn’t allowed to and must’ve been annoyed and took it out on my cervix. I instantly started cramping and had some bleeding too. Was the worst experience of my life and I’m terrified of having a sweep with this pregnancy because of it.
Only good thing to come from it was my baby was born about 8 hours later
Had my first ever sweep yesterday. It had me squeezing my husbands hands, and letting out a couple screams??? It was very painful. To 5-6 attempts because of how painful it was!
I am also 37+2, and I think my body just isn’t ready, but they’re trying to get things going earlier due to my GD. I think that may have something to do with it? Because I was not dilated at all.
I also hear that it can vary depending on who does it for you?🤷🏽♀️
You’re deffo not alone! 💓
I actually have another one booked Wednesday and Friday and I’m not looking forward to it at all 🥲
My sweep was really pai ful this time and I can't remember it being that bad in previous pregnancies but it did work!
I had a sweep yesterday at 39 plus 3 and it was agony. I am in hospital for induction though so she was able to offer me gas and air to get through it. I usually have a high pain threshold, I couldn’t believe how painful it was 🥴
@Chloe ooh, how helpful was the has and air whilst getting the sweep?
It’s my first child, and I’ve never really experience gas and air so super curious!
@Hafsa it was my first experience with gas and air too! And also first child 😊 it was amazing! After having it she could do the sweep in about 30 seconds. I didn’t even realise 🤭 xx
@Chloe that’s useful to know! I’m having my sweeps in the community clinic though, so I don’t think they can offer it 🥲
But happy to know that’s an option in the hospital xx
I had a sweep and was moving away from her up the bed.
Worst experience ever and never again.
My waters leaked after this too.
