In your OPINION: what age will you allow YOUR CHILD to wear a bikini?

Let’s not shit on other’s opinion on this conversation.

Elementary age: 5-11 years old
Middle school age: 11-14 year old
High school age: 14-18 year old

Or when they’re legally adults and have moved out of your home

Bikinis are fine, the strappy string ones are not. Also, the one pieces with all the cut outs are a big no for me.

Birth

When she's old enough to ask and care what she wears. Until then, I buy modest ones

Avatar

I mean I wore some as a preteen it was like justice at the time or limited too y’all remember that I didn’t remember it being too showing, but I don’t think I’d be comfortable knowing more than my parents did about today, with my daughters wearing it younger than hs

Avatar

18. Unless she buys it herself or she wears a cover up over it. I don’t wear bikinis myself.

Avatar

Style matters to me more than if it’s two pieces. I want my daughter to wear whatever she feels comfortable in as long as it’s age appropriate.

Avatar

My daughter had a frozen one when she was 4/5. It was just for the beach as opposed to her swimming lessons. It was more handy for going to the toilet or getting changed.

Avatar

My girls wear 2 piece swimsuits that pretty much cover their bellies and definitely cover their bottoms. Nothing like the one posted. I don't even allow my teenager to wear something like that.

Avatar

Since you don't have this option on the thing imma put it here I do not care what age my child is because swimsuits are only used at home in my home we don't go to the pool so I use bikinis right away

Avatar

For me clothing isn't about allowing it's about what they feel cute in I understand the whole sexualized thing but it's not what my kids wearing that would cause that it's the filthy mind of the person and I will never let my daughter think it's what she wore

Can't see your comment must have been deleted or I already have you blocked but to each their own my child is my child get on with yourself and yours

Straight out the womb

What a rude comment to leave to a comment you can't see because I accidentally tagged you. Bold of you to assume my comment was rude or anyway negative toward you and your child..

Avatar

funny that you saw it rude 😂 I said to each their own ... You don't want to have your own opinion??? Can't say anything on this app without someone like you taking it way out of context ... Get on with yourself and yours ... Make your own decisions ...I'm sorry someone hurt your feelings but it wasn't me 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Avatar

sorry I forgot how sensitive you moms can be ... And how far I have to break shit down to not be taken WAY out of context

Avatar

They can wear whatever they want when they are 18

Avatar

I would say when she’s competent at putting on her own sunscreen 😅 I will have them as covered as possible until then just for sun protection. I put my toddler boy in long sleeved rash guards and trunks if not the wet suit type. I have some wet suit type ones for my infant girl as well although I do have some that are like regular tank suits, just with long sleeves.

Avatar

they are adorable aren’t they!! 😂
My daughter has so many gorgeous patterned and coloured ones!

Avatar

Any bathing suits that are designed with the intent of looking sexy (like string bikinis) I will not be buying

Avatar

these are super cute. I'm going to have to look into these for my girls.

Avatar

I think a nice tankini is fine at like 14! I wore those and they were cute. They come.in a variation of styles too.

As far as like a bra and bikini I'd be okay once she is 16+.

Avatar

I put my kid in a two piece once potty trained but I wouldn't put a child in a bikini

Avatar

wait there’s an actual company that made string bikinis for babies/littles?!?! that’s fucking disgusting.

Avatar

I won’t be teaching my daughter that anything she wears is wrong or inappropriate. Pieces of clothing are not sexual. Especially on a child. I’ll probably opt for a one piece due to sun protection but if she’s uncomfortable or wants to wear a two-piece then she will.

Avatar

Whenever as long as the cut is age appropriate

Avatar

Tankini's will make things easier for nappy changes or toilet trips when they're young but I really don't like seeing young girls in bikinis. I'm often funny about my boys just wearing shorts when in the water too.

Avatar

exactly my thought (I did learn that tankinis are easier for diaper changes with my first daughter but still cover close to the same amount of skin tho)
