Hi, I had a lletz procedure 2 years ago and have now been told my cervix is measuring 23mm at 16 weeks.
I’ve been prescribed progesterone but wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation? Did it stay managed and did you give birth at term?
I’m due to go on holiday to Australia when I’m 20 weeks. (I’m in the UK). Now worried that we’ll need to cancel the trip?
Would love to hear your stories if similar!

Learn more about our guidelines.I had cervical treatment twice, other gynae issues to but at 18 weeks my cervix was 6mm & open with baby on the move.
They managed to stitch in emergency theatre which nobody thought the Dr would manage but she did amazingly then progesterone pessaries twice a day.
I was also on rest. Baby nearly came again at 22 weeks but we managed to get to 28 weeks before having an emergency section. Don’t get me wrong it was a very hard journey but it’s doable. Honestly my inbox is open if you need to chat 🩷💙
Progesterone pills worked for me with this pregnancy whereas with a previous one, I was doing makenna shots (which didn’t work) and needed a cerclage. In the US at least, you can get a cerclage as late as 23 weeks (that’s when I had mine). So I’d make sure your doctor knows your travel plans but you’ll probably schedule a cervical length check for when you come back just to make sure everything’s good
Thank you, really helpful. Sounds like a hard journey! I’m having weekly scans so I’ll see what they say about travel.
I had a cervical scan at 14 weeks and I was 26mm and they put me on progesterone and booked me in for a 6 the following week. I had fortnightly scans up to 24 weeks then I was discharged so at my last cervical I was 19mm so it had shortened but it does anyway I’m 30 weeks now and have my stitch out at 36 weeks. I take the progesterone up to 34 weeks. I’m based in the UK (near Birmingham) progesterone only works well for some but I’m glad I had both.
@Stephanie did you do any rest after stitch or did you go about life and work as usual?
They initially signed me off for 2 weeks after, then I got it extended for another weeks. As I had pains (nothing to do with the stitch though.
