Hey! So I had a stretch and sweep on Tuesday by my midwife (it’s not as bad as you think) she said I was already 2cm dilated and had a favourable cervix and she could have broken my waters. I felt some like period pains which have been every day since but really far spread out and not very painful. Family and friends are messaging / calling everyday asking if baby here yet 😑. If nothing happens I’m booked in for an induction on Tuesday but I don’t know how long you can be 2cm dilated for before things speed up or slow down? Has anyone else had this experience with a sweep? Just curious as to what to expect, obviously I know it doesn’t work for everyone but I’m confused with the pains being so far and few between.

I’m almost exactly the same! Had a sweep on Saturday and they said the same. Having another today, are you going to request another before your induction? hope all goes well for you x
@Sophie I don’t have experience with a sweep. I understand the frustration with people asking if baby is here yet it’s so annoying… but I’m in with my midwife today and plan on asking if she will give me a sweep! I’m 38+1 and 1cm dilated with my cervix quite far forward so hopefully she says yes
@Kerri It’s really infuriating everyone asking isn’t it, maybe it’s just my hormones but definitely driving me mad 😂. I’m sure she will say yes, i think it works for like 60% of women within 48 hours so fingers crossed for you lovely!
I had a sweep on Saturday and midwife said I’m 2-3cm dilated but that’s more than likely because I’ve already had a baby rather than it being because of labour, had cramping that night as well so was very hopefully…shouldn’t have been🤣then lost my bloody mucus plug on the 3rd so was getting excited and had cramps but only at night time😩 lost little parts of my mucus plug here and there since but no cramps or anything 😬 I’ve literally tried everything to get this baby out and nothing, I’m so done now🫠
Have another sweep booked for tomorrow morning so after that I’m going to ring hospital and get booked in for an induction as I’m in so much agony now it’s unbearable walking most of the time but doing it because it’s supposed to help with gravity 😩 being pregnant with a 2 year old who doesn’t listen at the moment is not the one🙃 im 41 weeks today
@Tiffany I was thinking of calling and asking what to do so I could see if they can do another one. Hopefully it works for you! Thank you I hope all goes well for you too x
@Atlanta Aww I hope the sweep works for you, it does all sound really promising for you though!
I can only imagine how hard it is being heavily pregnant with a little one to keep you on your toes as well x
Had a chat with my midwife, apparently I’m in early stages of labour which can last a few weeks with your first baby especially 😳 she said to just monitor pains if they become regular if not im already booked in for an induction soon.
@Sophie they weren’t able to reach my cervix today… said baby’s head is too low so not possible to sweep. Going to try again on Sunday. Booked for induction on Tuesday if not! Snap! :)
@Tiffany aw I hope they can do it Sunday for you, you never know it might work or at least start the process. Haha potentially Tuesday babies
@Sophie thank you! They will be worth the wait!
@Tiffany absolutely 🥰
