Learn more about our guidelines.I feel for you I’m having this same problem with my little girl. And the bicycle legs and massages aren’t working either ! Xx
It’s heartbreaking isn’t it xx
How old is your little one? I found that tangerine ( the juice) helps have a clear out x
5 1/2 weeks so unfortunately can’t have that!!
Another thing I could suggest is infant drops, to help break down the lactose, new kendamil, colief & (helped the most for my little one) biogaia they can be used from newborn stage x
We’ve been questioning if infacol was causing our LG to have difficulties passing - just incase you use that, since we’ve stopped it she seems less uncomfortable x
I went to the GP in the end as infacol wasn’t working and he’s now on laxatives which he takes really well and they seem to be helping but it’s taking a while to get into a routine
My daughter had this issue and it was ongoing for ages, they really don't want to take you serious as a 1st time mother a lot of the time. Realised she had cows milk allergies from 2 weeks old so no formula and no more dairy for me. She was on laxatives of many kinds, daily suppositories and they kept brushing me off so in the end I ended up giving her seamoss (myla's moss) and she poos on a regular basis, its all natural has 92 minerals in it and its beneficial for so many things. The doctors kept telling me she'll be fine at 3months then 6 then 8 but no I took my own initiative and she's doing great.
Infacol made her even more uncomfortable but its also worth having them run allergy tests because you never know. My daughter is working her way up the milk ladder and is being tested for wheat allergies next. So don't stop until you're satisfied with the end results because the doctor was fine letting her struggle not pooing for over 3 weeks, I was in there every damn day and decided to go to a children's hospital elsewhere.
It depends on the consistency when baby does go but if the consistency is still runny then baby isn’t constipated. They are basically learning how to poop even though it’s difficult to watch sometimes.
If the poops are harder then you need to speak to the GP before giving drops to rule out an actual medical issue x
@Skye drops aren’t necessarily for medical reasons my little boy was learning how to poo but struggled passing wind not just poo and biogaia drops were great for us and only used it for about a month and not only he learned how to regulate and push his poo but also gave him restful sleep and less of the constant crying. The drops are just there to help the beneficial bacteria. They are also accessible to purchase without a prescription so as a first time mum I would do nothing but recommend it. However, complete agree with you on the solid poos at a newborn stage, that does need medical advice
I’m in the same boat as you, tried everything possible! Went to the doctors got prescribed lactulose for my baby girl and that’s not even helping. By day 2 she’s screaming in pain until she goes which is like day 3-4 x
See if you can get some suppositories, I had them for my first when he was really constipated, they really helped, not pleasant to do but found them very effective x
@Evelina apologies I think you’ve misunderstood what I meant I worded it a bit quickly while my son was sleeping 😂 I know the drops aren’t for medical reasons I meant it might be best to speak to the GP to rule out a medical issue that might be causing actual constipation before giving drops.
I used drops for my son who struggled with wind in the evening but when I thought he was constipated, his pops were actually runny. He was just struggling to go x
@Jess it’s so sad seeing them in so much pain isn’t it. I think I’ll contact the doctor today and see what their advice is, or whether we can get anything for him.
Pre-made formula helps our baby girl go. I make one bottle of that a day for her as the powdered formula bungs her up I think! I’ve also got gripe water that I’m going to try as apparently that can help get things moving x
@Lauren did the doctors give you Any help or advice xx
@Charlie-Leigh just got back.. they said to keep doing bicycle legs, massage tummy in clockwise motion with baby oil and stick with breast milk or ready made formula if you can.
They don’t worry until baby hasn’t gone for 6/7 days!! How are you meant to see your baby in such discomfort for that long?
They did prescribe some lactulose but said not to use it unless we think it’s really appropriate xx
@Bonnie I put gripe water in his last bottle and he’s just gone thankfully! Xx
@Lauren we got prescribed that and it’s not even working for us! I’ve tried everything else and she screams in pain from day 2 until she goes on day 4 it’s AWFUL xx
@Jess have you tried gripe water??
@Lauren gripe water, bicycle kicks, tummy massages in clockwise and the “I love you” one, warm baths, reflexology on her feet, everything 😭 xx
@Jess oh no! So sorry 😢 xx
