Sorry for the photo but I’ve just turned 5 weeks and have started spotting. It started as brown and was sort of discharge like but is now going pink/red. My EPAU isn’t open until Tuesday and the thought of going to A&E to wait for hours with a toddler is stressing me out 🥲 my hospitals website also says if it’s light bleeding under 5 days to just carry on as usual but would be great to know if anyone else has had this? I’ve been spotting since about 12.30pm today and now it has got darker still not very heavy.

@Sara yes, I did one when I noticed the blood and it was positive still
Hopefully it is just implantation bleeding then!
I know this is stressful, but have you had any other symptoms such as pain or cramps? Unless you have a women’s ward a&e nearby, I would personally go to the EPU on Tuesday. In my previous pregnancy I had spotting and went to the general a&e and sat there for 7 hours before someone saw me. Even then, they lacked the sensitivity you’d expect when going through a difficult time and couldn’t tell me what was happening cause they didn’t have a vaginal ultrasound and I was referred to the early pregnancy for follow up and HCG blood tests.
@Joanne nothing sharp/intense at all, I had a bit of discomfort but passed some wind (sorry tmi!) and the discomfort was gone. I plan to call them first thing on Tuesday morning to try and get seen asap. It’s barely making a mark on my pad, only when I wipe 😕
I ended up at EPAU last week after 4 days of pink spotting with extreme cramping. More than I even had with my last daughter. They scanned me, saw a sac but couldn’t say anything else as it’s so early (5 weeks 2 days) and I’ve to go back in 2 weeks to see if there’s any growth etc. Thankfully so far the spotting has stopped but just to call if it’s becomes major.
I know it’s scary and worrying but they won’t really do much at A&E because of how early.
Potentially scan you then tell you to call EPAU for a follow up. If you can hold off until Tuesday then I would as would definitely be less stressful than toddler in A&E on bank holiday weekend x
@Vicki yes this is my thoughts, I don’t want a dreaded trip to a&e if they won’t do anything and like I said my hospital says if it’s under 5 days to monitor at home so I think I will call on Tuesday. Hope all goes ok with your scan in a couple of weeks x
If you can, push through until Tuesday and they should bring you in for a scan to see what they see!
Thank you. It’s a waiting game and my mind thinks the worst but just got to keep hopeful that all is okay x
I hope all goes well for you, I hope it’s just a small SCH. There are some private scan places that I think would still do an emergency scan, albeit would be pricey.
I’d not recommend A&E for this sadly. I had pain and red bleeding previously, and all they did was a pregnancy test…
Thank you for all your messages. I wanted to update here in case anyone who has the same sees my post and wants to know the updates. I have spoken to 111 this morning and have been told to continue monitoring at home as I am still very early so a scan won’t show anything, they also wouldn’t do my bloods. I still don’t have significant cramping, just a bit of discomfort and then I pass wind and it’s gone which I’ve had most this pregnancy and had with my first one. The bleeding has not increased, it’s got a bit darker (still red) but it also has a mucus texture to it? I haven’t had any clots either. Pregnancy test is still a faint line (maybe even fainter than yesterday) but I didn’t dip it to the max line as I didn’t have enough urine to reach it as i had only been to the loo 40 mins before. Boob pain has eased off and I’m still getting waves of nausea which 111 told me is very normal. I’m just monitoring the bleeding and pad until I know more.
Wishing you all the best and hoping for a happy outcome on Tuesday🙏🏼
Update: unfortunately last night I started to have clots even though the bleeding was beginning to stop, I have tested this morning and there is no line 💔 once again, thank you for your comments/support, I wish you all the best ❤️
I'm so sorry, currently experiencing something similar myself so I truly understand how difficult this is. Sending you lots of love and wishing you good health ♥️ thank you for sharing your experience and updating as it helps others who are going through similar confusing situations.
