With my first I would make up the whole days bottles each evening. My second would vary how many bottles he would drink in a day, so I would just do 2 or 3 at a time. Didn't do either of them any harm. I'm more inclined to listen to NHS advice than milk manufacturers who want you to spend your money on their premade bottles
@Hannah That’s a very good point about it being a way to promote the ready made stuff! I did think, surely the NHS will be just as vigilant with the advice they give!
@Helen thank you xx
No problem at all using the fridge method just try not to make too many in advance just incase it doesn’t get used. Nowadays I have an app which tracks your babies feeds so I know that she eats every 3 hours so I just make the bottle ready at around 2:30hours after her last bottle :) Hope this helps
I have two flasks. One with boiling water and another with chilled boiled water. I put a couple of ozs (depending on how much milk you're making) of hot water in the bottle, mix (swirl, don't shake!) in the formula then top up with the chilled water. It's ready instantly. Just bear in mind that the powder increases the level of the milk so you need to make slightly more than the ounces you require. If you look at a bottle of milk you're currently making, you'll see it's more than the ozs you wanted. It takes a little bit of organising but you soon get into a rhythm of it. When I go out, I'll often use a premade bottle for ease. Baby doesn't notice any difference!
I make bottles once a day for the next 24hrs and pop them in the fridge. When baby is hungry I just warm one up in a jug of hot water. Did the same with my first baby as well
